'20 FL WR Malachi Wideman (Tennessee signee)

Florida State commitment Malachi Widemantook an official visit over the weekend.Wideman hasn't gone on record since he passed on signing early, but Noles247 can confirm through a source close to Wideman that he made it to Knoxville and took a two-day official visit to Tennessee over the weekend.

The same source says the visit to Tennessee went well, “It was great! Great coaches, facilities and vibe there.”

Wideman will return home for a few days before getting ready for his next visit, which will be to Oregon at the end of the week. But before he leaves, Wideman will be busy hosting coaches on in-home visits.

Noles247 has learned Oregon, Indiana and Ole Miss. Tuesday Tennessee will be in to see him and on Thursday it will be FSU’sturn. I do not expect Mike Norvell to use his lone in-home visit with Wideman this week. He’ll most likely do his in-home with Wideman and his family the final week before Signing Day. This week, we expect wide receivers coach Ron Dugans and others on the offensive staff to make the trip down to Venice.

Top247 wide receiver Malachi Wideman, a longtime Florida State commitment from Venice (Fla.) High School, has remained quiet so far coming off his official visit to Tennessee over the weekend. But sources said the Vols made a strong first impression on him, and while he remains committed to the Seminoles, Tennessee has emerged as a legitimate contender for Wideman as he continues to move toward a final decision. A source close to his recruitment said he liked everything about his official visit with the Vols, and they showed him that he’s a high priority for them among their remaining targets in the 2020 class.

Oregon now is scheduled to host Wideman on an official visit this weekend. He was expected to receive visits from Oregon, Indiana and Ole Miss on Monday, and Tennessee is scheduled to see him on Tuesday. Florida State still is fighting to hold onto him, with the Seminoles expected to see him Thursday and new Florida State coach Mike Norvell believed to be saving his visit with Wideman for next week. His relationship with the Seminoles following their coaching change remains a major wild card in his recruitment, but sources said he’s keeping an open mind and legitimately exploring other options leading up to signing day, which has allowed the Vols to become a factor.
