FL game last play

I'm pretty hazy on this, but wasn't everyone pissed at the DC two years ago in the Swamp when, late in the 4th with FL trying to get in the end zone from 60+, he dropped into a prevent and they scored? Seems I recall something like that.

Shoop gets hired and asked about the situation and pretty much says he's calling aggressive defense.

Pretty obviously we didn't think he could throw the ball 65 yards in the air. It was a great throw. Abernathy reacted too late. The call was fine. The solution was to knock the QB down.

That's the way I remember it.

Not only was Kongdo not held, but he lined up with his hand in the neutral zone. Flag should have been thrown on him, but of course, Florida would have declined.

You must be legally blind is all I can say.

Personally, on that last play, once the safety knows he is beat, tackle the WR. Pass Interference is only 15 yards. Would have put the ball at the UT 48 yard line. No FG possible. One untimed down for a Hail Mary, that we (hopefully) would have the right defensive call set up.

It's a little more complex than that. In 2015 UF was in 3rd or 4th and long multiple times and we ran the same defense every time. Early in the game we ran that defense and Grier wasn't able to beat it. However by that long TD they had made adjustments and Grier had beat that defense multiple times. Grier was a decent runner and that defense accounted for that. However on that last TD he was injured from the previous play and there was no way he could run for 14 yards. We still had a LB spy him instead of rushing.

The root of the problem then is still around, the coaches don't take what is happening on the field into account with their play calling. Butch uses analytics to determine every aspect of his coaching and I'm sure they show that a defense always sells out to stop the run when you're on the 1 yard line so a pass looks like the right call, but it doesn't matter when your RB is getting tough yards.

One of the odd things about this game is both teams thought they should have blown the other team out. UF fans certainly think this should have been a 2+ touchdown win.

that is not at all what the fans said to me at the game. They said consistently, "tennessee was better and we were freaking lucky and your coach should be ashamed of himself..." But i am guessing you weren't there.

Did y'all have 3 INTs and two dropped TD passes? No? Yea my 35-13 prediction was real close without that.

Had no worries of FL blowing us out.

I was there, and I don't think that at all, neither do the thousands of UF fans I converse with. Florida was a half-yard from going up 20-3 deep in the 4th quarter. They dropped two easy picks during the game, were victim to some horrible officiating, threw a ridiculous interception on as simple a throw-and-catch play that you can have, and missed a ton of easy tackles. Florida should have won this going away... But as I said, I can see where UT fans might think otherwise because UT made a bunch of unforced errors too.

Really? Even when Davis was running 75 yards and was a half-step from putting UF up by 17 in the 4th?

UF had two fumbles, a gimme interception, two dropped interceptions, several whiffed tackles, several missed calls and dumb penalties. Florida could have/should have won this game going away.

Vol fans were upset two years ago because UT's DC decided to spy Grier on 4th and 14, when Grier wasn't a threat to run.

Grier got banged up on the previous play after getting blasted by Barnett.
