FL CB Damarius McGhee

The Vols were set to land Damarius McGhee in early August but that changed on Thursday when the Florida product called Derrick Ansley and surprised him with his commitment. This staff is very high on McGhee. As one person told us this week, landing McGhee would “give Tennessee the best corner they have landed since Jeremy Pruitt has been at Tennessee”.

So I gotta think that either Rivals just hasn't updated their rankings or they're straight stupid because this kid is a stud. Does anyone know when they update rankings?

BT and AT development has to give us a chance with guys. They were lower rated guys who have a chance at being drafted. If the coaching staff can do that with lower rated guys imagine what will happen with the studs, or just look at HT for an example

They were both 4* players though. Taylor was the 122nd ranked player in the country. Thompson was the 301st ranked player in the country, and probably ranked too low relative to his talent because it was thought he'd have a very small chance at actually qualifying, academically.

Now, the better argument exists if you take the angle that both players were athletes primarily recruited to play WR, and this staff took both, and made highly effective CBs out of them, both of whom have started since their FR years.

Wow we are accepting commits from 2 stars. Udder failure by this staff on the trail.
Going to be honest. I trust Pruitt's eval of a CB over Rob Cassidy and probably anyone else not named Saban. Even more so since Cassidy's rating will be long forgotten regardless of how this kid turns out. His job isn't in danger. Pruitt will be unemployed soon if he signs the wrong players.
