I will be visiting Knoxville for the first time on a football weekend, October 11 (Arkansas).

Although I will not have a game ticket, I would like to experience the pregame atmosphere and traditions. From what I have read, I should try to see (1) the Vol Navy, (2) the Vol Village, (3) eat a sandwich from Gus’s Good Time Deli, (4) the Vol Walk, and (5) the parade of the band culminating in the “Salute to the Hill.”
  • Can someone formulate an itinerary for me so that I can walk to these sites (and any other recommendations) in a logical and efficient sequence?
  • I have read that the band’s marching path to the stadium has changed this season. Where should I go to be able to watch the “Salute to the Hill?”
  • I will not have a parking pass. If the free garages (Market Square and State Street) are full, would it make sense to park at West Town Mall and take the Route 11 bus to and from the stadium?
Thank you.
