I first started lurking around VolNation a little bit over a year ago to get a little more insight on recruiting. After going through the FF a little bit in the spring I saw that Barnett wasn't getting enough love for how close he was to breaking Reggie White's record and was kind of pissed I had to wait til 100 posts to start one. Sure enough after his record breaking sack this past week here we are. In the past year I have enjoyed all the passionate fans of VolNation no matter how frustrating or aggravating some can be it is all out of passion for our Boys in Orange. Plus this site provides me with some good chances to engage in some arguments which I have to engage in and win at in my job so its an attempt to keep me sharp and see all sides of arguments. I am a part of a big family that bleeds orange I have been going to games since my dad took me when I was 3 yrs. old, have two relatives who have played/coached for the Big Orange and loving being part of the Sunsine Pumping/Middle Ground/Nega VolNation.

Now on to the Bold Predictions for our Vols for 2017. These are Bold Predictions that who knows they may work out they may not but hey I think quite a few of these have some good legs so lets see if they'll ride:

1. Helfrich will be hired to our program in some capacity with DeBo sliding over to being OL coach + maybe Co-OC and Mahoney is fired. This hire makes sense on so many levels with us needing a solid QB coach and the OL needs a solid development coach.

2. We hire a DL coach and it won't be Hoke. I would love to have him as a position coach and I think the Hoke rumor has legs but I am not too sure on his connection with Shoop. I would love to see what Shoop can do with mainly his assistants plus with Hoke we will potentially have 3+ former Head Coaches on staff which could be a situation with too many Chiefs and not enough indians.

3. We will hire a new DB coach and once again as much as I would love for it to be Terry Fair I would much rather it be someone who Shoop is comfortable with. In the end it just needs to be someone who can properly coach these guys into getting their DANG head around!

4. Todd Kelly moves to linebacker and Warrior takes over at the Safety position with Abernathy. This will make a deadly safety combination and Kelly will turn into a fantastic hard hitting outside linebacker who will cover well.

5. Tyler Byrd moves over to DB and plays a role very similar to Adoree Jackson playing both ways. This will be needed in the first couple of weeks with breaking in a new QB/OC and the thinking we will need shutdown defense to keep us in games.

6. The starting CB opposite Byrd is someone who isn't on campus yet. I have a feeling that Labruzza has a lot of Cam Sutton in him and has the potential to slide into this spot and we become lock down on the corners.

7. Brandon Johnson and Marquez Callaway step up in a big way this year. Greazy I know you're gonna love this and I believe your nephew young Brandon is going to have a breakout Sophomore campaign after a summer working with OchoCinco.

8. The 2017 recruiting class finishes strong and we add another dynamic playmaker similar to us landing Byrd last year but this kid will be a pure WR. My bet is the kid out of Illinois who just blew up in the UA game. This add plus Murphy will make impacts next year.

9. Our defense drastically improves and is a top 10-15 defense in Shoop's second year. To me this hinged on us seeing significant improvement with our patchwork defense in the bowl game and I saw it. This one I believe has huge potential!

10. JG is the starting QB from the get go and sets freshmen records at UT.

11. Due to Dobbs getting drafted so low and his lofty expectations D4H can't handle it anymore and vows that he is leaving like he did early on this past season. A screen name is created the same day that's either JG4Heisman or Guarantano4Heisman and he returns in full form.

12. We finish 10-2 with our only losses coming to Bama and someone we really shouldn't have lost to. The two SEC losses keep us out of the SECCG yet again because crappy Fla. or Uga. has a crappily easy schedule and somehow gets in there with their only SEC loss being to us. I have to predict it this way cause most of the times my predictions are off so hopefully this one is off and we get to Atlanta.

13. The 2018 recruiting class will be top 5 with us dominating in-state recruiting and it will be put almost completely together before the regular season's end.

I hope it all comes true and I can't wait for 2017's version of the Big Orange. Let's bring it on Team 121!

Agree that Kelly would make a good OLB and that Brandon Johnson will be a breakout player on offense

Love the January optimism! All may not happen, but most all are a possibility.

Don't forget #14...Tuttle comes back strong and he, Mac, and Kongbo form three headed monster on starting DL along with Phillips?

BOLD PREDICTION

#1 and #13 will be huge to turn Trevor Lawrence back to UT and away from Clemson 2018 class. Dude is the real second coming of Peyton Manning!

I predict 11-2 with losses to LSU at home and Bama on the road. We beat Auburn in the SEC Championship game ranked #4 in the playoffs.

I don't know why y'all keep saying this. I didn't leave or disappear. I was banned for 2 weeks. After the ban was lifted, I returned.

Anyways here are my predictions:

1. Guarantano is the starter from day 1 and has an All-SEC first team type of season. He'll pick up right where Dobbs left off.

2. We will have a top 10 defense. I agree with alot of what you said about Warrior and Abernathy starting at safety. And Byrd moving to corner. I just don't want to see Todd Kelly Jr. on the field that much. Daniel Bituli and DKjr are better athletes and we need them to be the starters LB.

3. Tennessee will go 11-1 with the only loss being on the road against Alabama. They will beat Auburn to win the SEC championship.

With the amount of talent Lyle just squandered? I'm seeing 7-8 wins and Lyle getting fired.

Next years team will be less talented. I just think Butch gets the breaks he didn't get this year. I see less injuries, better team chemistry, and less off-season pressure leading to better results.

Ok,D4H, I usually think you are crazy as an outhouse rat but I gotta agree with every bit of this. Well done.

I agree. But I'm thinking 9-3 next year. Just like this year I need to see it to believe it on us winning at Florida. I think we lose @UF and @Bama and then either lose to LSU or to a team we shouldn't.

Who is the projected starters at DE? Phillips? Will Kongbo move back to DE?

Gonna go full D4H here but:

1. Dormady (QD) throws for 11,000 yards, has 48 touchdowns and 3.5 INT's...just in the first half of season.

2. Guantanamo comes off the bench after another Bama loss when CBJ decides Volnation is right about talent on the bench and then proceeds to throw for 3000 yards and run for 65 touchdowns as a redshirt Freshman earning him a Heisman Trophy.

3. Dobbs gets drafted by the Patriots and replaces Brady during fall camp and wins the Super Bowl with his legs alone.

4. Bain puts on 45 pounds of raw steroid free muscle and becomes the best long snapper AND punter in school history.

5. CBJ hires a crossfit strength and conditioning coach and reduces injuries by 1001%..
