The problem Stoops and Mack Brown will have this year is that they won't be able to really let up off the gas and actually play their future QB. Landry Jones is still sitting behind Bradford, and could be really good, but he'll end up learning on the go. John Childs was supposed to be the Horns QB of the future, but he moved to WR since Colt came back this year. The fact that both will be competing head-to-head in the B12 South AND probably as a Nat'l Title Contender, it's hard to plug in a Freshman or Sophomore w/o PT to learn.
It was debated last year by Mizzou fans whether not RS'ing Gabbert was worth it. When we got waxed by Texas in Austin and knew we weren't a Nat'l Title Contender, it turned into a learning season for Gabbert, and he got a lot of in-game reps, even if was just handing off. He showed some promise in our OOC, where he got most of his PT, and he had a really good spring outside of the B&G Game. A lot of his learning is due to not RS'ing last year in my opinion. Texas and Oklahoma won't have the option of teaching in-game. I think Texas will end up being better than OU in the next few years, but both may have some rough patches (after this year of course).
