First Horizon Bank Jersey Sponsor Patch - Official

I’ve gotta be honest here. I hated the sponsor/patch for money idea. But THIS feels like straight up robbery.

$120mil for that? Ok….lets think about this. First Horizon Bank. Can I bank with them in Myrtle Beach? No. So they’re a local bank in Tennessee? Ok. So Tennesseans already know they exist and use the bank. How are they really gaining anything from this $120,000,000 spend? Like, I understand business and advertising, but I don’t really see how this is worth it for them.

Really sums up college football and Danny Moneybags when we bump our own logo, the sacred Power T, off of the uniform in favor of a corporate sponsor.

Low compared to Ohio State and Notre Dame's deals....
Ohio State’s deal with JPMorgan is around $15–17 million a year for every varsity sport. When you add Tennessee’s deal to what they’re getting from Axle for the basketball programs, they’re bringing in at least $15 million. So Tennessee’s deals aren’t low compared to what Ohio State got.

Like it or not, it's a professional sports business now. Spend more, win more, make more, repeat. That's the goal.

It's not as much money as you think. First Horizon's revenue last year was $3.42 billion. $12m a year on a jersey patch is 0.35% of that.

If your income was $100k last year, it's like you spending $350 on something.

A 10 year deal is a bad business decision in the current market. Otherwise, the logo is fine though and the company isn’t cringe.

Revenue, sure. But how’s the profit side looking?

Don’t mind it. Could be worse.

In this new age of college football, it’s adapt or perish.

I actually like it. I just wish they didn't remove the Power T.
Honestly, I hadn't even noticed until you pointed it out that the Power T had been replaced by the SEC logo in the neck line.
I've said for a long time, I would like to see a version of our uniforms with the Power T in place of the numbers on the shoulders.

They got a bunch of em in North Georgia.

N. Mississippi, Birmingham, Huntsville, Western NC too.

Bank with that much coin might actually have a strategy, but I’m just basing that on my past experience. 🤷🏻‍♂️
