Firing the head coach, Nebraska style

Ohio Vol, i used to think the same way you did. there are precedents on both sides of why coaching changes are good or bad, depending on the hire. as someone pointed, out changes for GA, FL, LSU, USC, OK and Ohio St. have all worked out for the "very good". and there are others that it hasn't. it is a gamble. but at this point, after seeing what i've seen the last 3 years, really, anyone could put up similar numbers at UT. and as bad as it has been at Nebraska, it can be argued that TN is on a similar path with the current coach. in the last 3 years we've had the worst w/l record in 20 years, suffered the worst defeat in 26 years, allowed the most points against, twice, since 1995, losing record to FL. .500 record against SC, .500 record against Vandy. and .666 record against GA, and .666 record against Bama. 0-1 in bowls. no championship game appearances, much less wins.

so if you're going on trends and taking snap shots of performance lately, you can make the numbers look any way you want to.

All vol...good post, and i too think Coker made a difference in the 2nd half.

we don't know what the future holds, but I do know that the likelihood of improvement against the better SEC programs if we keep the current staff is extremely remote. Nobody's asking for immediate turnaround. We're asking for hope.

right on.
