Alabama has been a National Championship contender for many years in a row, including this one. UT has been middle of the pack in the SEC East, at best, over the same time frame.

UGA is also a contender. Kirby Smart took over a 10 win team and gave them the boost they needed to get where they are now. Thanks to Mark Richt building them, but that is irrelevant to the point I am trying to make, other than the fact that UT was not a 10 win team when CJP arrived...not even close.

Even Kentucky is better than they have been in decades, but I say they only beat UT because the Vols were shell shocked from the way they got beat down in the 2nd half of the Georgia game the week before. Not an excuse, but that's what I think happened. That said, Georgia was scared in the locker room at half time. That's why they came out on fire and UT was, not surprisingly overwhelmed. UT was competing with a NC contender.

I was hopeful the Vols would be better this year than last. It ain't over yet, and last season started off bad and turned out pretty good for a rebuilding team. Maybe this year will go the same way and the Vols will run the table the rest of the way.

Finally, to be calling for CJP's firing at this point is willful ignorance of the last several coaching changes UT football has endured. Have a little patience people. If you can't, maybe college football aint for you.

God Bless and Go Big Orange!

I love how people act like UT's money is their own and act just as butt tight about as they do... You get what you pay for, in life and it's the same for football coaches. We are paying Jeremy about mid tier SEC money and guess what, Tennessee is a mid tier SEC team. They apparently have pissed off any booster that ever gave a shat about the program or they'd be embarrassed by what it has become.

No one expected us to beat Alabama yesterday. No one. At some point we have to see some progress though.

Disclaimer: I don’t think we should fire the coach. But he and the team certainly needs to show some improvement.

Absolutely seruously..
You look at this teams play. The last 2 and a half quarters has been absolutely embarrassing. This coaching staff has no clue how to compete. Pruitt will never be Alabama, Georgia or Florida.
He's 0-8 against them and we are losing by over 20+ points a game. As we all now that's how our coach will be graded.

Meh, it's just the rednecks mostly. The rest of us realize we were 0-8 3 seasons ago, and have progressed to 3 SEC wins, and then 5 SEC wins, with a good chance to match 5 again this year. Recruiting is solid, scheme is pretty solid. Execution has been meh at times this year, but Georgia and Alabama are going to beat everyone they play, outside of a fluke.

I'm not saying fire Pruitt, I have no clue where we'd go from here if we did. I can tell you why I understand that frustrated people are saying it.

Our last 4 recruiting classes, depending on the service, have an average ranking around 15ish.

Take a team like UK for example: their 4 year average ranking is around 31.

In year 3, with the resources Pruitt has been provided I'd expect us not to need luck to beat USC. I'd expect us not to get blown out by Kentucky.

I'd expect a close loss with UGA, a team using a QB that would not start for a lot of elite high schools.

I'd expect something like a competitive 14-17 point loss to Bama. A game where their depth helped them pull away in the 4th quarter.

In reality:

Lucky to beat SC

Three losses by an average of 27 points

Using the same qb you had when you got here. He was among the worst in the SEC your first season and he still is today

In less than 3 seasons you've turned over almost your entire staff, including the second D line coach we just let you hire (after 4 games). However, you've kept your pal and his unit has underachieved the most of any position.

Recently, you have things happen like:

Get unsportsmanlike penalty called on yourself

Fire a coach mid-game

Have the guy you think is the leader of your team post support for a different qb

Score 7 points in the second half if the last 3 games combined.

And get player quotes like this, from Matthew Butler “Alabama has a winning culture. We have a winning history. That’s the difference right now."

I'm not an insider and I can't say for sure the wheels are coming off but something doesn't smell right

I'm really starting to think that if Pruitt is definitively going to fall, it's because of his stubbornness. He's got to learn to trust the guys around him AND needs to realize he has a lot of young talent sitting on that bench.
I agree, I think his stubbornness might be his undoing, I really think he believes he’s the smartest football guy in the room all the time. Look at your team’s performance!! It’s the results, not what you can say about all the X and Os. GAAAHHH!!

We should beat Arkansas this week.
An how do you come up with this revelation? Have you watched this team for the last 3 weeks or what. They have issues everywhere and seemly no answers. Unless Arkansas is a double digit favorite i'd take them and anything under 10 points right now.

That is the worst defense Saban has put out onto the field. We can't fire Pruitt right now, but his presser was pathetic. He's just not head coaching material. That we have to hire guys like him and HOPE they become good head coaches is the head scratcher of all time

Therein lies the problem. Three years in there should be at least some glimpse of being competitive against the best.

Instead, it went the other way and this is after they had a gut punch right off the bat in losing Waddle.
