Has anyone noticed how many great shots(i.e. layups ) we have been missing? Ramar misses them all the time, Wayne is always missing them and although Tabb doesn't play that much he has good ideas with moves to the basket but can never, and I mean never finish them. We need these types of shots to go down if we are going to go on a tournament run. Other thoughts JaJuan has been hot early then been nowhere, Duke hasn't done much and the free throw shootig has been better but God JP and Ramar scare me on the line. Thoughts?

definetely what stands out to me is JP and Jordan Howell in general, Lofton missing more and more threes, and Ramar's free throws

It amazes me to see people hating on Lofton. He shot 2 3's today, he made 1.

like kiddiedoc said, defenses realize how big a threat he is and have someone blanketing him constantly, preventing his good looks and he still manages to hit those often enough to warrant taking the shot.

It's not so much Lofton making his three's...it's more of his presence on the court...teams sometimes double team him or at least pay much more attention to him than any other player on the court...which gives us open looks for other players to step up.

Lofton can shoot as many as he wants and miss as many as he wants

?

Other that his 0-4 vs Memphis, I don't really see that as the issue. The problem seems more an inability to get him good looks.

I really do like Lofton, but I don't think he's ALL that. I don't see him being anything special in the NBA because of his lack of PASSING. He has been double teamed and puts up a terrible shot cuz he thinks he can hit anything. Dude should start passing more. And bring the rock inside, I noticed he's pretty good when he drives. I actually think Tyler is better, just my opinion.

Which is, IMO, why we have struggled, at times. Nobody really has risen to the challenge. We've got to have J Smith hitting threes, Ramar slashing and finishing, the bigs refusing to be denied once they catch it inside, Howell raining in a 3 or two, and JP taking advantage of his ability. Tyler is the only one that seems to be carrying his load, and that just isn't going to cut it late in the tournaments.

This is the most irrelevant post I've read today.

Who cares about Lofton's NBA potential? This is college ball. From what I've seen, he can hit almost anything. And, he does drive, as often as he has a chance (which is not too often, given the tight coverage).

Also, Tyler being "better" is not an opinion.

Since conference play started Lofton is shooting about the same percentage from 3 point range as the entire team shots OVERALL. As far as I'm concerned, he can shoot every time he gets daylight.

I'll take Lofton from the "T" over quite a few of the other "looks" we get (not naming players, just to be nice).

Shouldn't that be a common sentiment for everybody that follows Volunteer basketball?

Just saying he needs to learn to pass a little more than he does. Can anyone give me his apg? Don't get me wrong he is a GREAT shooter. But, dude just doesn't play great overall basketball. I said Tyler is better because he passes more, rebound more, better shot selection, and loves to have the rock when it's clutch time. I'm not taking anything away from Lofton just don't see why everyone surrounds the team around him.

Crapping on Chris Lofton because he's not going to be a great NBA player and he's not as good as Tyler Smith betrays an astonishing lack of perspective about Tennessee basketball. Come on. Did you watch any games before this year?

I repeat! Not taking anything away from Lofton, he is a great ball player. JUST DONT UNDERSTAND WHY YOU GUYS THINK HE IS THE TEAM. That's all. Please guys it's just a post stop putting words in my mouth

Not sure that anyone thinks he is the team. However, you seriously underestimate his value to this team. His presence on the court stretches defenses, which allows Tyler, Chism, Duke, and Ramar to get in close to the basket.

I had another post written out that took two paragraphs to say what you said so succinctly. Having a guy who can shoot like Lofton on the floor is like the Patriots having Randy Moss this year. If you don't concentrate on him, he'll kill you. If you do concentrate on him, somebody else will kill you.

Complaining that he's not as good a player as Tyler Smith misses the point.

He pretty much was the team last season. This year he is merely a very important part of a much better team.

Our friend from the 912 area code probably wasn't watching the team last year because we weren't ranked high enough for it to pop up on his radar yet.
