Listening to Paul Finebaum today, most Bammers as well as Finebaum think this was a tasteless act. However for the few Bammers that think this is a great thing, think about this...What are you going to do if Fulmer has a couple of aces (violations) from 6 years ago he decides to throw on the table since you pissed him off and won't let a sleeping hound lay? Have you considered you might possibly end up on the probation wagon again??? Click your heels now and lets see what happens.

Given that there is a five year statute of limitations on NCAA violations, I'm sure Alabama could give a damn if TCHFCATUTK starts babbling about things from 6 years ago.

Thanks Hat...I did not know this. Still though if he lays more violations out there, UA would once again be under the NCAA and public microscope and potential recruits would be lost.

5 yrs is actually a long period for a Statue of Limitations.....Most are a yr, aren't they?

No doubt. Any NCAA investigation is bad for business. However, TCHFCATUTK might not want to get into that kind of game. The recruitment of Michael Oher still falls within the five year window. That's all I'm going say.

Ok, hat, spill the beans...What's up with Oher?

TT...Won't happen. This suit is Smith against the NCAA, Fulmer is a witness and not on trial.

Fulmer was just trying to tear down that fence around Memphis that Orgeron had built.

It is a sworn deposition, is it not? I suppose it depends on how far the questions are allowed to get "off topic." But, perjury is always a concern if the "wrong" questions are asked...assuming that he has something he would like to hide....

I remeber the OM at UT game when there was a break showing highlights of UT pounding LSU. He was standing there with the rest of the OM line, hands on his hips looking at the jumbotron...his expression was "What was I thinking by coming to OM?"...Priceless!

In the legal realm, it depends. With the 'AA, they set it so far out to allow for the fact they don't have the ability to compel witness testimony, which means investigations are laborious.

The consensus among people who should know in Memphis is that every coach who recruited Oher, with the exception of Saban, flaunted the rules in pursuit of the player. They only give Saban a pass because he apparently picked up on what was going on early and made sure he didn't cross any lines.

he's become one of the best offensive linemen in the nation and is a top 10 pick in the 2009 draft who will make millions of dollars...doesn't seem like too bad of a choice to me

This is a very salient point that most aren't recognizing. I've just posted on the subject because it would be disruptive to our team if the deposition occurs at the time the subpoena demands.

I think that there may be some questions that they want to get his answers to on the record...and Fulmer would likely want to be careful how he answers them....

...then again, maybe I don't understand how this works...I guess I am under the impression that saying the wrong thing in a deposition can lead to another case being filed for perjury if it can be proven.....but I am far from a lawyer, so I'm probably off...

I doubt Oher has ever second guessed his decision.

It would have came out. Orgeron would have squealed like a pig to hang a big time SEC school and show he was the new sheriff in town.

Not everybody is a rat. Orgeron actually cut his teeth with programs that adhere to the Coaching Code.

Also, it's not real smart to point fingers when you're doing the same thing.

Where in the "Coaching Code" is the part that told him to start calling Tulane football players after Hurricane Katrina to see if they were thinking about transferring?

Did he try to rat Chris Scelfo out to the 'AA as means for getting the players?

No, but I'm sure that grand "Coaching Code" you speak of would frown on a coach contacting players on scholarship at another school and effectively trying to recruit them by convincing them that their football program was shutting down.

It would. However, the proper way to handle that would have been for Scelfo to head to Oxford and punch O in the mouth. Handle things like a man instead of some prissy little tattle tale.
