Finebaum says Tennessee and Georgia QB situations are “not fine”

This. Now that Nico bailed we have been allowed to take off our orange glasses and finally admit what most of us didn't want to say all along.

As the kids would say, Nico was pretty mid.
Personally, I never saw the superstar attributes everyone gave him but, recognized all of the excuses they had for him; including the freshman BS.

The question will now be was he worth the $2 mil just to have consistency at the QB position for this year?

Paul could very well be right. Aguilar is a pick waiting to happen. He throws a lot of balls in the area of the other players.

If we have a really successful year, I have serious doubts that it will be because of Joey.

Fortunately we have recruited well. Both young guys were much higher rated out of HS than the transfer and I feel our chances for success lie more with them than with the transfer. Mac was everyone’s 5 star before he shut down his recruitment and while services don’t want to admit it, once a guy stops showing up for their events, they begin to drop their rating. That’s just a fact.
Don’t care about recruiting rankings
That transfer is a FBS 3,000 yard passer.

GMAC looked impressive in the spring game.

Merk is still my bet tho.

The youth at WR is an issue tho. It’s also the potential solution because they have some crazy skillz

Mac isn’t playing this season barring injuries.

Why! Do we let someone who never played football place doubt in young men who have talent beyond most of our comprehension or ability...let them play.

I think his take on Gunner Stockton is worse than Tennessee take. Georgia fans and Kirby seem high on him. We will see.

The thing is, Paul’s time as a student at UT intersected my own.
Wild thing man, Dave Ramsey and I both graduated with degrees in Finance in 1982. I was all around campus with those 25,000 students. I didn't see him..lol....If a shepherd fleecing the sheep...Oops, sorry Dave

We may very well struggle mightily at QB this year. But I really dont think we were going to be setting the woods on fire had none of the Nico transpired either. We were likely going to be relying on the running game again either way. At least JA will be a running threat that Nico really wasn't. Maybe that opens up the passing game a little more for him. Who knows.

Here’s the thing, young players get better if they’re committed to working to get better. Heupel is never going to say it about a player but I’m betting the same laziness Nico had in every other area also extended to getting better at QB.

Worth it? Idk probably not but a QB at this program is going to command pretty substantial money. We would’ve paid certain players more to come here when Nico left. I don’t think he was particularly good but had potential. If he had been any kind of leader or teammate and not a total clown show you probably pay him bc the optics of paying a mediocre qb are better than having an unknown going into the season.

T

Aguilar has the potential to be a really good quarterback, but not if he comes in behind a bad center. How we had that much time to find and develop a good center and completely failed to do so is beyond me. Either way, the reports I am hearing is no one is serviceable at that position. If that’s accurate, we are in trouble with any QB.

If you're a QB and need to get your dome rocked toinjuries head into the game and dial in your accuracy then you're either never going to reach your full potential or your career will be cut short or plagued with jnjuries.

GMAC looked better than Merk. Fact.

No one should be surprised by anyone having a poor perception of the QB situation. None of our guys have had significant playing time in Orange and White.

For Finnebaum it means missing the playoffs. Most everyone here would agree and have us at 8-4. It's the homer in us that sees the potential of our guys and know what Heupel's offense is capable of when it is clicking.

Whether we fumble a little bit out of the gate or have to make a change or two, I would be shocked if by the end of the year we aren't peaking at the right time. It may be too late to make a CFP push, but I am hopeful that we will end with some good momentum.
