Finally the wave is back!

I went back and watched the video and noticed that most of the stadium was fully involved in the wave. One noticeable exception was in section YY6...

Maybe we should have a bunch of 10 year old girls make a video for the new jumbotron teaching the "wiser" fans when to make noise and when to go silent.

As for the woo - I've never done it, never will do it, and don't think my voice could ever reach that octave without a vice-like grip on my loins... But, as I said - whatever it takes to get my kids involved and excited about the Vols until they understand the game - I'm all for it. FYI, my daughter met and talked to Johnny Majors and James Berry during the UCLA game. Johnny talked to her about going to his first game, etc. I asked her what she thought afterwards and she said - "Wooo!!! Let's go do the wave!!!!!"

Sending 10 year olds into YY6 will result in DCS placing said children in foster care. We've done a pretty good job of running kids out of the section. Don't want to have to do it again.

So.... my ten year old daughter LOVES the wave - which means I do, too. She also likes to yell Whooo! in Rocky Top. I also like it when she does that. At the UCLA game she was scolding the fans on either side of us to stay quiet when we were on offense - she also almost lost her voice when we were on defense.

Needless to say - I want her to have passion for TN football. She doesn't understand the X's and O's yet - but as long as she has that passion she will. If it takes the wave and a whooo - then I'll gladly live with it.

FYI, for those who think we are the only ones doing the wave... you need to get out more often.

This post fills my heart with joy. I hate the wave and the whoo with the fiery passion of a thousand burning suns, but that story about your little girl is absolutely priceless.

Please stop the wave and act like we are a football school. If you are a student and you like the wave, go start it at a baseball game or something like that.

The Woo sounds sissy and the Wave is outdated. I remember seeing CLK getting frustrated on the sideline when we were on offense in the orange zone because the crowd noise was so high. He had the look of: Damn are these fans so out of touch that they do not know to be quiet when we are going up to the line. Call me old fashioned but I want the TN Walking Horse back.

old fashioned.

the walking horse was hella ghey. and excuse the fans for being pumped up after making a great play to get in the red zone.

Actually, I agree with this. Typically, going to the games are for Mom and Dad. The kids only get to go on occassion to keep them interested in the game I love so much. Certainly, the pre-/post-game activities are much more fun for adults and involve more than driving to the game and driving home.

I think, though, that you would be impressed with the noise that girl made in the fourth quarter when UCLA was backed up on their own goal line. Plus, on the drive home we had a cool discussion about whether a safety or punt was better for us in that situation.

I would have preferred she see a win - but, we had a good time - thanks.

I cannot express with words how badly I hate the wave. There are enough distractions with the jumbotron playing videos of the Lady Vols and UT Med Center commercials and the piped in music to occupy the people who aren't there to watch football for most of the game, I think. I would honestly say the "woo" can stay if the wave were banished altogether. At least the band can decide when the woo occurs and keep it from affecting the offense... JMO

the wave is annoying i am trying to watch the game quit throwing your arms in my face. I am not as excited as you are to smile and watch people stand up and throw their arms in the air... your missing the reason we paid for tickets go home and do the wave in your own sanctity

I agree with the person who said " Stop it " If people MUST still do that, atleast wait till we have a large lead, the OTHER team has the ball, and or during a TV timeout.

I would be willing to bet that your daughter behaves more appropriately than most of the adults in Neyland Stadium, her enjoyment of the wave and the woo notwithstanding.
