I used to live in LA (Lower Alabama) and loved it. Dear friends there. Little town called Fairhope...the best place outside on East Tennessee in the world.
Mayor of Orange Beach welcomed us yesterday. Didnt realize OB is only 42 years old, being incorporated in 84.

Yes I have been to Fairhope really nice place.

Some places in alabama are nice, but they are overshadowed by the vast number that are less than attractive. Same for the people - some are great, but many are really "special" in a bama kind of way (trying to say that as nice as I can without being vulgar). All that being said, nowhere in the state I would live. Already done that - twice, and couldn't wait to get back to Tennessee both times.

I though LA was Lower Alnwick (Maryville - William Blount area).

Great bar and a legendary Bushwacker. Here is my story though from a visit a few months back. Came out to my car around midnight to have two girls come up to me letting me know someone in a very large truck hit my car and drove off AND they had gotten his license plate. Two good samaritans. I had to call the police for the insurance claim and when they ran the plate, the culprit lived in Tuscaloosa. He also owned a popular business there and apparently is Bama booster. Public record showed he owned a second home in Orange Beach.
The good samaritans said it was a large crash noise and the guy had gotten out to see the damage before driving off.
Classy bamer!

Lived in Foley and worked in Gulf Shores for 4 years. FloraBama was more of a dive bar and much smaller before Hurricane Ivan destroyed it 2004. They do throw some killler parties.

Used to have a sign over the bar that said:
“For $2.00, you can get a beer and your ass whipped.” Don’t know if they got another one after the hurricane that destroyed the old bar. Obviously at $2.00 for a beer, that was a while ago.

Gulf Shores/Orange Beach is one of my favorite spots. Lived in the Mobile area for a few years, met some really good people, met some not so good people. Was happy to get back home to Tennessee. Still like to go down to visit though.
