@JimmyHyams: Bobby Campbell, greenskeeper for natural grass at Neyland Stadium from 1994-2010, was invited to Neyland today to get his opinion on surface

Question is what the hell took so long!?!

My guess is nitrogen levels are low causing roots to grow on the thinner layer of the surface vs. down. Weather is too cold to fix, they will lay more of a sand and gravel mixture to shore up loose field, this will fill in the cracks if you will...nothing can be done until the spring with early spring with a different treatment for roots to grow thicker and in a downward pattern. Personally I would spread manure early February, that stuff will be thicker than shag carpet........but that is me :)

That article, if true, points out some serious deficiencies in our staff. How does this A$$ clown still have a job???? I mean who doesn't get fired for this kind of inept performance?

Many friends and neighbors use the turf care guidelines outlined by the UT Ag department, and they have the nicest lawns around. They know their stuff. It's unfathomable why they are not consulted for the grass on SWF.

The buck stops with AD Dave Hart.

Fire the guy that doesn't get it.

Hire a guy that does get it.

Put the retired guy on as a consultant and hire the guy that the NFL and soccer teams worldwide pay to help them.

Get this problem fixed once and for all.

Write a care guide book as suggested by the experts that's proven to work and do what's needed month by month all year long.

Get it right and then keep it right.

We are Tennessee and Neyland stadium is our home.

Somebody used their position to hire their nephew thinking anyone can mow the grass. How much you wanna bet?

Pay Bobby Campbell whatever he wants to come out of retirement! The man is literally Shield-Watkins Field grass whisperer. He knew what he was doing.

Another source said the field has been so treacherous and slippery, UT has taken plays out of the playbook for fear they can’t execute them on a subpar surface.

Also, I’m told, that a slippery surface can lead to more muscle strains and ankle injuries.

Seriously?? The guy actually whispers to grass?

This is Bobby Campbell whispering to the grass on SWF back in the day, and it would just grow on the spot.
