Another huge weekend for the Vols, with double-digit OVs including some commitments and BUNCH of top targets, many of whom are closing in on decisions. There will also be some very well-attended prospect camps with at least one 4-star 2023 prospect who's yet to get an offer along with multiple 2024 and 2025 studs. Finally, about a dozen top Vol targets will be visiting elsewhere, with eyes particularly on the sh!thole that is Columbia, SC and its low-rent Cocks football program/mayo guzzling head coach.

While I feel like recruiting is going well I think it’s imperative that they close the deal with a few of these kids this weekend.

Another 2023 camper, along with Lane:

Karmelo Overton, Carroll, Linebacker (247sports.com)

Won MVP award at AU's Elite Camp 2-3 weeks ago

"Verified at 6-foot and 200-pounds, appears to possess growth potential to add additional weight to his frame. Displays above average athleticism at the weak side linebacker position.

Appears to have above average key and diagnose ability. Flashes some instincts and read / react ability on tape. Possesses adequate play speed, flashing some range to play sideline to sideline. Moves efficiently, plays with very little wasted motion. Shows the ability to bang between the tackles and play in space. Strong at the point of attack, will strike you. Demonstrates above average play strength, showing the ability to stack and shed blocks consistently. Limited sample size as a defender in pass coverage and as a blitzer. Plays with some feel to his game, more of a throwback player.

Projects as a potential multi-year starter at a Power Five program with the ability to add value on multiple special teams units."

By my rough count, 2024 prospects camping today or having visited since Friday will include:

3 5-stars
16 4-stars
8 Unranked players with Vol offers already

Plus at least 7 known 2025s and one of the top 2026 (I know) QBs

Counting this weekend we'll have now gotten all 5 of 247's Top 5 instate players in the class on campus MULTIPLE times before July 1, 2023, and are near locks for the #1 player in Edwin Spillman. Have multiple offers out to others (O'Connell, Goree, etc) who've now been here multiple times too. Night and freaking day from the instate disaster Pruitt left Heupel to deal with - Coach is setting us up to finally, for the first time ever, capitalize on the boom in instate talent. And there's nothing that pimp Buck and NPA will be able to do about it.

For anyone who thinks Heupel and Co. are going to be a one-hit wonder in the 2023 class and/or are only being successful due to NIL, think again. This thing shows no signs of slowing down...
