I know it's a tough question since this area of play has been way below the standards this year. But i'm curious to see what the board thinks about this issue, which is unfortunately, probably going to be leaking over into the offseason. I didn't add Boyd or any other incoming qbs because I wanted this to be focused on the play of the 3 main qbs that took snaps this year.

From what little I saw, Coleman may be the best of the 3.

Wouldn't be surprised to see a freshman come in and earn the spot though.

Coleman, Boyd, or another freshman. I don't think Stephens has the tools. I know Crompton doesn't!

I like BJ a lot. He is probably the best of the 3. But I think Kiffin will work wonders for Crompton in the off season.

I think our starting quarterback next year isn't even on that board! Feel in Boyd and possibly Barkley!

Get an O Line in front of any, would be an improvement.

Well if Lane can get Crompton to live up to his potential (as he was rated when he was recruited) and ol' JC comes out next season a runnin gunnin BA, you'll know Lane is a hell of a coach.

To answer the OP, all three need so much work it's hard to say. I'll guess Coleman but I am really excited about the new QB recruits.

What we need most is a system and a coach to teach it ... Any of these player could excel in the right circumstance. Let it be decided in the spring and fall drills. May the best man win ....

Out of those 3 Coleman probably has the most fire but none of them know how to pass without staring down their target. This will be the biggest obstacle for our new offense that CLK will have to address. It is hard to win the battle without a strong Field General.

Crompton - Has most of the physical stuff down (I use most very loosely) he needs to work on the mental game.

Stephens - I voted for him. Have we forgot about him taking over for Crompton? He was pulled for throwing 2 picks...I think Stephens has the most potential of current QB's.

Coleman - It's hard to say much about him, we have only seen him in the game for a fraction of the time Crompton and Stephens have been in. Nonetheless Coleman looks like he has the choice of going mobile if he is being pressured too much. I think his mind is right for it, seeing as he was one of the only ones to fully understand Clawson's offense, but It's yet to be seen what he can really do.

...and for having an attitude. Under the new administration, this could be a good thing!
Yep, I just saw him as a guy that hated losing. He could be the kind of leader on the field that we need.

I did not see Coleman. I like Stephens more than Crompton--think he's got a better head and I like his fire, but his delivery is a slow. Crompton has physical tools but there is something missing with him. Kiffin's big job is to find and develop a QB and recruit more speed on offense. Our passing game is an absolute joke. The OL also must be better.

I am giving the entire offensive side of the ball a clean slate for next year. The QB will be the biggest indicator of coaching improvement as none of the 3 were very good. If Crompton is the starter and a quality QB next year, Kiffin will be a miracle worker and Fulmer and his offensive staff will look like fools.

I voted for Stephens because I don't think we got to see enough of Coleman this year and got to see way too much of Crompton and I think Stephens could develop into a pretty good QB.

I voted for Coleman just because from what little I saw of him, he looked more poised and in control of the game than JC. But i did like the fiery personality of Stephens, that drive could be a great positive under the new staff.

I just discovered the site today looking for Kiffin info, but I think I can help you guys out a little with your Crompton worries.

I have been watching Crompton play since he followed coach Noland from Erwin to Tuscola high school where my cousin who currently starts as a DE for a 1-AA playoff team graduated with and played with JC (people in Waynesville call him Jesus Christ, mostly because he thinks that of himself). I can also say that he still has the same problems now he had in high school and was criticized for as a fill-in starter for Ainge. He will make some great throws, maybe break a run for 20 yds. and drive down the field only to make a throw into coverage that gets picked or he fumbles a simple handoff exchange.

Just from my time playing football and observing things I have come to realize that it's alot easier to correct physical shortcomings than problems with mental mistakes. I just think after 5-6 years of watching him that the kid has all the physical talent in the world, but when you have a father who is counting on you to ring that cash register and you have a habit of mental mistakes at bad times, that might be too much to overcome no matter who the new coach is.

I agree, all 3 could-should do well with coaching and a line to protect them. Knowing how well crompton practices =) he may get the nod and a chance to redeem himself.
If he shows the crompton of 2008 I don't think clk will wait more than 3 series to pull him instead of 4 games
