My sister-in-law just handed down her old ps2 to me, and she even got me Fifa 2010 for Christmas.
I really don't play video games very often, but this one looks really fun and I'd love to get good at it.
The problem is that I suck out loud! I put it on the easy mode, and I just lost a game 2-1.
Does anyone have any tips?

Pass... Alot..

And try to learn the different formations.. Your guys will stick usually to where they need to be so strategize almost like foosball.. and buy some snacks.. but this game is very addicting..

My favorite trick is to use the loft kick.. If you can get open and some space.. Run right at the goalie full speed ahead.. Wait for him to bite and run to you and then quickly hit the loft button to kick the ball over his head..

I play on Xbox 360 and have been cussed out numerous times for this.. :)

but it works every time.. works against the CPU as well..

Patience. You don't always have to score as quickly as possible. Dont be afraid to pass the bass back to your defenders. Wait for the open passing lanes. Don't fall in love with the through ball and breakaways. That is what everyone does and if you are playing anyone with a tiny bit of intelligence, they will stop that very quickly.

It's about the only way to get it past the CPU

Definitely control the ball. Pass, pass, pass. If you keep possession you can't lose, warranted, you still have to take shots and all these passes have to lead up to a shot. Also on offense, if you are having trouble keeping possession. Hold LT(on Xbox 360, so probably L2 on PS2) while dribbling, it allows you to keep the ball closer to your feet and change direction quickly but you lose a little speed. LT is also good to use on defense as well as it keeps the opponent with the ball in front of you and is very effective for tackling.

Overall, FIFA 10 is fantastic, definitely the best effort that has been put forth this console generation. FIFA/EA has left Pro Evo in the dust.
