I have heard several say that they would rather not go to the SECCG than face the bammers again. It is a loser mentality to shy away from a possible bad outcome by avoiding competing. None of the inspiring achievements of man would have ever occurred if winners had this mentality.
Negativity and Pessimism are mental disorders that grow out of an out of control fear of possible bad outcome (worry about things that haven't happened and may not). The pessimist justifies they abnormal negativity as "being realist", "not having their head in the sand", etc.
1) We aren't as of yet playing the bammers in ATL and it is almost as likely that bama doesn't make it as it is for us not making it. Realistically, Auburn is a bigger obstacle for them than any of our remaining opponents are for us.
2) The essence of sports is competition and wanting to play and defeat the best. Good competition is an opportunity. If a player or fan is more terrified of losing than they are competing, they need to give up sports and take up knitting.
3) NO ONE likes losing. But healthy competitors step on the field (or root for their team) boldly facing fear and the painful possibility that the outcome may go against them. Competitors have fear but they make a conscience decision to risk negative outcomes regardless.
