We are in the process of "relocating" our tailgate, as I'm sick and tired of the rules preventing any type of fun in G-10. Anyone have a favorite lot(s)? We like to grill, set up shade, and need to have a line of sight for the satellite dish.

Thanks in advance,

KD

Great question. I just bought season tickets and I was about to get a parking pass but didn't know which lot to request either.

I don't know about good spots for tailgating, but if you're just looking for somewhere to park there is a lot at the corner of the interstate exit and 13th street. Usually takes less than 5 minutes to get back on the interstate after the game. THe only drawback is the long walk to the stadium. It takes a good 20-25 minutes to get there. Good luck

Whats that patch of grass that a lot of the visiting team fans park in? couple blocks away if you turn left away from the stadium after coming from the strip....

too long of a day to remember anything else, except parked there last year for the tn vs aub game. Plenty of room had about 10 of us, with grill, jack and more. set up the chairs and partied for all day.

We are in G-5 but its starting to get quite crowded....Would be a great site for the dish but its gets crowded unless you get there at 6:30 or 7:00 when we do and get your spot.

Over the past couple of years, the UTAD has issued "regulations" that prohibit setting up tents, using any space outside of a single spot, etc....it's just getting old. I'm tired of constantly getting pestered by UT's finest about anything that resembles a good time. The "no shade" thing last year put me over the top -- hard to convince the wife, et al to go sit in the sun all day for thousands of dollars a season.

Have you had any problems in G5? 9 looks good, too.

We have parked for years at a paid lot at Methodist church on Cumberland. A lot of visiting teams plus UT parks there. They have tents, TV's, etc. Assume you have to pay $25 for each space used but it is a very friendly place to park. Get to use restrooms at church before game and policeman directs traffic after game to keep things moving. Need to get there early on SEC games but that is part of enjoying game day at UT.

Last year at the South Carolina game we parked over behind Lindsay Nelson field. Its just a little section of grass about half and acher. It was perfect though. It was about 75 people out there. We played corn hole and cooked out. Someone put up a big tent to watch the game in and stuff. Its a free place to park. We plan on doing it again this year.

I've heard the university and city cops are really going to crack down this year on anyone having an open container, in any lot, private or public. I better hide my Jack when they come around looking to issue citations.

They say that every year. They had a huge press release last summer saying $hit was going to hit the fan for fans. KPD are obnoxious and need to be reined in.

KPD can die for all I care.

Locust Street Garage is really far, but you can do anything you want there

It's not that far. Only about a 15 min. walk to the stadium. If you go one more block over, you can park for free in a parking garage. I can't think of the name though.

We have to relocate, too. For years we've been in front of the Music Building, but it seems they're going to tear it down.

that rule is true for all the UT parking lots. one space per parking ticket. I'm in G5 but have requested moving to 9 this year just to get my old legs closer to stadium. G5 does have some grassy areas. If you get there early enough, you can grab a parking place and set up in the grass with no problem. Its just if you take up additional parking spaces that there is a problem. Lot of folks (not me) get there for breakfast to get spots even on night games. Not a ton of room, but some.

Unless you want to park somewhere public, same issues will follow you when getting more than one parking space. I opted out of G10 years ago because too congested with tail gaters

I am fine with not being allowed to use more than one space. However, I don't understand why you can't set up shade in your own spot behind the car/truck and I don't see why they won't let you use an extra pass for just the tailgate space.

A little grass would be fantastic; I think we are going to shoot for G5.

Fiji Island park by the Frat houses. See all the tents. Park on the street.

Game day is always a great day for alumni.
