I always take to certain players that aren't necessarily stars. For instance I really like:

Jason Mitchell, he was all-Vol and an Econ major like me

Shawn Summers, he was from my home town. Oak Ridge won state in '91 with him playing RB/LB. He played CB, and held the all-time record for return yards at Tennessee.

Who are some of your favorites and why?

Reveiz. I remember watching him when he was just on special teams and loved the way he would hustle and always would "get himself in the picture" as my old coach used to say (means get your hat around the football while on defense and theres a good chance you'll get in on the tackle). He took it to a new level of hustle, and it sure paid off for him getting into the starting lineup this season. Hope he is able to bounce back from that injury.

I am from Oak Ridge too. My favorite is Jerry Colquitt(see avatar). I like Shawn as well and played baseball with him because he was so good but I am 4 years older than him. Mike Caldwell(Zeke)from ORHS was my boy although he wasn't a Vol. What year did you graduate?

I moved away from OR when I was 16, but I am class of 2000. I loved Colquitt too. His injury was my worst memory as a Vol fan. My Dad coached Shawn Summers in little league and the only game they lost was against Jerry Colquitt. Oak Ridge used to have better football huh?

Mike Caldwell play WR?

So why do you like a walk-on freshman QB who undoubtedly is red-shirting this year?

he is the quarterback of the future. His high school highlights are incredible and i heard he is exploding in kiffin's system. watch out for him!

Steve Johnson...

My favorite player at one point was Eric Still, he was known at the time... but he might be lesser known today.

Oak Ridge football ruled when I was their, class of '89. Shawn was a great baseball player. Mike Caldwell was a tight end for ORHS and MTSU but played linebacker in the NFL for the Eagles. He was named special teams player of the year at least once. Jason McAddley also played in the NFL briefly but he was a Bammer.

JJ McCleskey is one of my all time favorites that was never quite a star.

why would i post this if i was him? that would be dumb. i just saw him play in high school in the knoxville area and have always followed him and watched him progress

Looks like Rod Wilks may have some competition?

not necessarily lesser-known, but i think alex walls deserves more credit than what he got when he was a kicker here earlier this decade.

I was at ORHS the same time as McCaddley. He and Bohannon both went to Bama. Bohannon was great but sat the bench behind Shaun Alexander.
