Doesn't really work if your not driving a stick though.

How about some driving mixes/playlists? I'm about to drive 2,700 miles in as short of time as possible.

wow. We would make fantastic road trip companions. How do you know Carbon Leaf? They are probably my favorite band to listen to while driving. I'd add The Elms and Zac Brown Band to your list, but I listen to everyone in your list regularly while driving.

One of my roommates in school was from Virginia and I was given heavy doses of DMB, VACO, and Carbon Leaf. At first I'd only let him play it if their cover of Rocky Top was in the playlist, but eventually it grew on me.

And frankly, if you listen to Les Mis in the car, I don't think the world would be ready for us to roadtrip. It's scary enough that I do it.

iTunes Genius playlists actually aren't too awful in they way they group songs together. I'd say take some of your favorites and make a playlist based on each song and just have at it.

Also, for a change in pace, Librivox audio books are good at passing the time. All the titles are in the public domain, so the readings are free (therefore hit and miss on quality). Works great as podcasts as each book is a feed and each chapter an episode. Most of the readings I've come across are good to excellent, but I recommend sampling each one in case you find a 14 yr old going through puberty doing the reading.
