Fast Starts

I believe we will start out fast against Florida, and win that game. We can’t afford to start slow in the Georgia game, like South Carolina did. I believe we have to fight toe to toe with them, and yet no team hasn’t done that yet. I believe we will, and we can’t be intimidated by Georgia this year. That is what happen to South Carolina in that game. If you remember last year, the interception at the beginning of that game set the tone, and now the deflected pass in the South Carolina game, was the exact same thing that happen to us last year. If we can set up our running game early against Georgia, then our passing game can get going, then we will see a difference, and don’t throw that interception like last year, keep it on the ground the first play. We must get at least 4 or 5 yards a play on passing and running plays. I believe we can do that, and win that game. I believe we are the only team in the SEC east that can play with Georgia this year. You can’t tell me that someone on this coaching staff hasn’t already scouted Florida and Georgia already, and has looked at the film on these two teams to start preparing for both teams. I think this team knows that they are preparing already for both teams ahead of UTEP, and I think they will be ready for both of them.

Reminder: Florida was 9-4 last year
The Vols were 4-8

The UT roster is certainly NOT one of the worst in the country and is easily top half of the conference. There is NFL talent on this roster at nearly every position.

Really? So by you saying this, you believe our roster belongs with teams like Bama, UGA, LSU, TAMU and AU right? Alright then lets test that. Take the five teams I just listed and name me one player, besides Trey Smith, that woukd be starters on their rosters. No there isnt NFL talent everywhere on this roster.

There isnt going to be any Saban/Smart like turnarounds. Think about it. Saban was a national championship winning coach before getting to Bama. Smart walked into a loaded roster. Pruitt walked into one of the worst rosters in the country. This team is not going to see much significant turnaround until most of Botchs busts are gone and his guys come in and get coached up.

I wouldn't say one of the worst rosters. Probably the most underdeveloped.

A statement from a true azz, show some respect to players giving their all.

There are a lot of Bama fans in Pulaski, Elton and Ardmore Tennessee. You sound like one of them.

I will wait until after this weeks game to decide but thus far I don't see UT winning any SEC games this season, competitive only with Vandy. Both lines show serious deficiencies, lack of depth. While they do have talent at the skilled positions, including QB, that will be muted by giving up a lot of points and inability to sustain a drive. Hope I am wrong, crossing fingers.

Looking back through Nick Saban’s first year at Bama, you’ll see quite a few Bama won 1st quarters. Obviously, that team didn’t know how to finish, even losing to Lousiana Monroe, but anyone could see that Saban had what it took to turn that program around. No further proof needed than the beatdown they gave us to the tune of 41-17.

Fast forward to 2018, if we want to see a Kirby Smart/Nick Saban turnaround, here’s what needs to happen:

1. Fast Start: we need to jump on some people early, especially SEC teams. It’s the mark of a team that came prepared.

2. Signature win: Pruitt is going to have to find his signature win. The kind of win that gets EVERYONE on board with his vision. The kind of win that’s never in doubt. With Pruitt changing the culture, you can’t expect every game to go our way, but to get everyone bought in will take finishing the deal at least once.

3. No blowouts: obviously this one is out the window already in week 1. But maybe that’s how far we’ve fallen. Either way I’ll give him a pass with what had to be a top 5 bad beat for your head coaching debut. Let’s see how ready Pruitt has us for the heavyweight SEC teams. Will we fight tooth and nail for 4 quarters, or will we lay down and give up like Butchs teams.

It’s no secret year 2 has been the catalyst for the modern day great coaches. Doesn’t mean we should give up hope if things don’t happen for us exactly like it did for bama or uga. It does mean, however, that we need to see Pruitt coach teams that show signs of being well coached, prepared, and aren’t afraid to fight for a win. Show us a glimmer of hope and our fan base will explode.
1. We had those fast starts several times under Butch. How many double digit leads did we blow in 2015? It was the mark of a team that didn't know how to close out the deal.

2. Butch also had that signature win sort of. In his first year he beat the team that ended up finished #4 in the country. Gave quite a few of us hope. But, as we all learned, it was a false hope.

This is hilarious. Caught be off guard.
Smith OL, Calloway Wr, Wood TE, Tuttle DL, Kirkland and Bituli LB, Warrior S, both Fr CBs will play in the league and at least one of the RBs. There will be as many as 5 more on this team make an NFL roster. There is talent at UT EVERY year. We just went through our worst run in history and have like 30 players on an NFL roster. You guys simply don't know the game. We are set up to be favored in every game but 2 next year and it won't be because of our Fr recruiting class, it'll be because we will have a TON of talent returning.

I said top half, you listed top 1/3 and TAMU does NOT have a more talented roster than we do. Smith, Kirkland, Bituli, Warrior, Calloway, Tuttle, both Fr CBs, at least 1 of the RBs and at least 1 more OL will make an NFL roster. There will be 3-5 of the Fr class also make a roster at the next level. 10-15 NFL guys on this roster today. Tn ALWAYS has upper tier talent.
