I'm in a league with 9 others. The league was top 4 teams make the playoffs and playoffs are for two weeks each. Well week 13 the league commish changes the format to top 8 teams (he was 5-8 and finished 5-9) and he ends up the 8 seed. The only teams above 500 are slots 1-4. So it goes I'm the one seed and will lose to him this week. I called him out on the change before playoffs started and he said it was an oversight and it was always supposed to be 8 teams. Note, on draft day it was asked of him and he said top 4 only. Turns out 3 of the top 4 seed will lose. This is a work league and since we are all work from home nobody has paid league dues of $100 a team. The $100 really doesn't matter to me as much as him changing the rules to better himself. Do I just give him the money as he's now asking for it or wait and see if he wins the league. If he does I dont think I'll pay him.

Or could yall have a league vote and vote on what to do? Maybe the majority would vote not to pay or only pay half or something?

I‘ve closed a bank account over less. It’s about the principle, not the money.

I wouldn’t pay either.
On the other hand, since your group is work related, maybe the 100 bucks isn’t worth the friction it might cause.
If that’s a concern, I like Ben’s idea of having a group vote.

If he’s changing that, you may want to make sure he didn’t change the scoring options. Example, QB touchdowns are worth 4 pts, did he change it to 6 pts, etc...?
That’s pretty shady and I don’t know that I would pay and definitely wouldn’t join a pay league with him in the future.

This is fine, but balance this against how you think it might affect work. I'd feel other people out. If they aren't seeing it your way at all, just buy the reputation points for $100 and decline next year. If you do decide to hold out pay, tell everybody now.

Update. If a top 4 team wins everyone will pay and winner gets full amount. If a team outside top 4 wins, everyone pays and half the winning are donated to a charity.
