For anyone that has traveled to support the Vols on the road, you know that impressions go a long way.
I've been to plenty of road games, and the way I was greeted by the home team's fans will always stick with me.
For instance, I will always remember frat guys trying to pick a fight with me (just for not wearing their colors) at Georgia and Clemson. Then again, I will also always remember the guys that bought me and my friends a congratulatory pitcher of beer in Gainesville after the 2001 game.
You don't have to buy anyone a beer, but please at least be respectful to opposing fans that are in our town. Our strip is kind of a dump right now, so don't send them home thinking Knoxville is just some awful place to visit.
I once saw a group of drunk morons (UT students) scream in the face of an elderly couple wearing Alabama colors as they were walking into Neyland. I apologized for them, but I'm sure the damage was done.
They're going to experience enough pain by watching their team get destroyed by the Vols tomorrow. No need to add to that by being a d-bag outside the stadium. Save your energy for screaming at their team on the field.

I have always tried to abide by this code as well, even when I was a student. I've been embarrassed by my colleagues many times. Have fun and be respectful. Hell, it wouldn't kill some of you to go past respectful and even be friendly.

I understand what you're saying, but the gator fans I know have been jerks for the last few years. I'm not getting in their face afterwards, but I am singing Rocky Top as loud as I can no matter who's around

100% agree. It sucks when your walking around other college towns and people are treating you like sh**.

I don't get on here too often but this is the best post I've seen in a very long time. Amen and amen. Very well said. And thank you for apologizing to that elderly couple. You're a class act.

Their fans throw piss bombs on us in Gainsville, I personally don't care how bad our fans treat them. To each their own I guess.

We never learn. Years and years and years of history and we never learn.

Jesus, our Creator said,

"Give to everyone who asks of you. And from him who takes away your goods do not ask them back. And just as you want men to do to you, you also do to them likewise.

UT has had a lot of turnover , new systems etc.. Florida recruits well year in and year out. You guys are loaded front to back ..I'm worried about this game but hey these guys on here say a miracle has happened and all of a sudden we are going to blow you guys away. I'm very worried to be honest.

I go by the rule that, if theyre nice I'll be nice in return. But if they walk around disrespecting our fans, our school, our stadium, thats when there will be problems. This is, after all, our town.

There will be lots of folks visiting the premier college football venue in the US for the first time tomorrow. Here's to hoping they can tell their friends how incredible of a place it is on Sunday.

an intelligent post...thank you volFooballlover

i am equally as worried and i don't mind reciprocating the honesty. qb controversy will always linger above driskels head (but less so if driskel continues to win no matter how), injury bug has us competing with the vols at less than full capacity, and our running game is suspect (and we know how necessary it is to have a decent running game)

lots of worry on both sides of the ball my friend...thanks for the civil response

I've been to Gainesville, Tuscaloosa, and Athens. Been treated with much respect from all but Athens. Probably because its a fair-weather program. They have the worst fans especially after they lose

Sounds good to me. Cheering for the Vols is encouraged. Do that with all the passion and enthusiasm you can muster. I just don't want to see anyone embarrass themselves and the rest of Volnation.
Screaming - "Go Vols...wooo!" = Good
Screaming - "Go to Hell you <lots of profanity>" = embarrassing

Said it many times, will say it again, gator fans are by far the worst fans I've encountered in Neyland. Azzhole is to kind to describe them. Be a prick, get treated like one!! GBFO!!!

Sheldon Cooper disagrees with this
