Falcons run wild

Falcons defense that much better or the Panthers offense that bad without Smith?

I'm sure a healthy Steve Smith would have helped Carolina, but the additions of John Abraham and Lawyer Milloy really seemed to have made a big difference for the Falcons. Abraham had 2 or 3 sacks and a couple of forced fumbles.

i was at that game...and our D sucks. and i knew it was going to be like this...all the hype going in...blah, blah, blah...just shows how much all the idiots on ESPN really know....ATL abused the right side of the Panther's oline, and continually got pressure on Jake and Carolina proved again what we thought in the pre season, that we have no running game to speak of.

I'd like to say that not having Steve Smith was the big factor, but it wasn't. the D just sucked out loud, and from the looks of it, all the additions the Falcons made, esp. John Abraham, was the diffrence.

oh, and btw, Dan Morgan, once again, injured in the 1st half of the 1st game and doubtful on when he'll return....sigining him to a contract extention and letting Will Witherspoon go is looking to be a great decision.........jeesh. I know it's one of 16 games, but that was a huge let down, and shows that this team is far, far from a superbowl contender right now.

the onlything good aboout opening weekend:
1. the Steelers looked really good.
2. the Cowboys lost too.

After the season opener, I remain humbly silent on Pro football:cray: I never dreamed my 4000th post would be to acknowlege the defeat of the team of my avatar.:furious3: :jpshakehead: :mf_surrender: :swoon3:

another man's loss is another man's game...hate it for you Dan, but i was as happy with the Steelers on Thursday as disappointed in the Panthers on Sunday...so for the weekend i went 2-1...TN, Pit winning and the Panthers sucking out loud....

1st game though...Miami will be better as the year goes....buck up brother...the nfl season is a long season. (im having to tell myself that about the Panthers.)

Falcons ran for 305 yards today.

It was like a Big 8 game from the 1980s.

To make it even more impressive for the Falcons, they've ran wild on Carolina and Tampa Bay. Two allegedly good defenses.

It's early, but if they win next Monday night at New Orleans, they will certainly be in pretty good shape with a win over everybody in their division.

Yet again the clock is reset on when coach Saban's master plan starts .....working.

i'll now be suprised if ATL doesn't win the Division...TB has big time qb issues, Carolina can't do anything on any phase of the game consistently and New Orleans, well, they'll pitter out soon enough...

i hate the falcons, but they look really, really good...them and Chicago right now are the two best teams in the NFC.

The Falcons are playing about as unconventional an offense as there is in the NFL right now. They still run West Coast formations, but they are about 2 shades away from running the same offense that West Virginia runs.

agreed...as they were breaking down the highlights i kept hearing "zone read on the D-end" reminded me a lot of what WVU does...

and it can be scary with guys like Vick and Dunn....run in to a defense that can tackle in the open feild and get good pursuit down the line of scrimmage, and that will give the Falcons trouble...

Mike Vick looks really good running the ball and throwing....I agree with GAVol, if they beat New Orleans on Monday night, they're going to be tough to beat for the NFC South

There goes Vick again. I don't think I can ever remember a QB who could look as bad as he does sometimes and then all of a sudden look superhuman.

Warrick Dunn for 90 yards!? I have NEVER seen an NFL team run the ball like this.
