Britton tried one against Florida his freshman year and it failed horrible I believe. It was called - but they told him if the gunner was uncovered then throw it. So he threw it but someone was there.
I remember the colquitt fake punt against florida. if it was complete, it was a touchdown and game changing play. he had the right idea but it was a blown play from the start. that is about the last one that i recall
If you draw it up right then it'll work. LSU pulls that stuff off all the time because they have it drawn up right and people will actually block for you.
This year would be a really bad year to attempt any trickeration. We have enough trouble just handing the ball off. Can't forget about the other fixable troubles as well, such as getting a first half first down, kicking FG's, etc.
Attempted Fake FG while playing Arkansas at home and we scored a touchdown off of it. I think it was when Clausen was there. We were up 28-0 after first quarter.
To hell with a fake punt. The best thing UT's offense can do is punt it away on first down. The more offensive snaps the other team has, the more likely it is that Eric Berry will get his hands on the ball.

yeah he might have been gone. but also the UF player that meyer had bait britton into throwing the ball got a hand on it and really almost picked it off for a pick 6 that game...if that db had caught it, he would have been gone
