we have 5 "gimme" wins: Montana, UNC replacement, MTSU, Vandy, Kentucky

we have 4 games I expect us to win as of right now: Cincy, UGA, USCjr, Arkansas. I love that we return the majority of our team/talent while UGA, USCjr, and Arkansas all lose their big guns and we have them all 3 at home.

that LSU game in Neyland is VERY winnable.

counting the bowl game, that is 11 realistically winnable games. and I have a hard time not saying the Vols are the favorite in no less than 8 of them.

9 wins- Fact or Fiction?

The 2011 schedule is set up for absolute disaster if Dooley turns out to not be our guy. I don't think nine wins will happen. I also don't know if MTSU and Montana will be pushover games at that point. If Dooley does a great job I still think eight or nine wins is the ceiling in 2011.

SCjr might be more of a factor than UGA considering how UGA has laid an egg recently in Neyland even with superior talent. Arkansas is very winnable assuming Mallet enters the draft. LSU has young talent out the ass and continues to bring it in but they have Les running the show so its always a coin flip. Haven't really seen Cincy or kept up with them because I really don't care, but I'll assume they fall off with the departure of Brian Kelly.

Overall I think 8 would be a good year and then head to a bowl game possibly picking up a 9th, but 9 regular season wins aren't out of the realm of possibility. Talent must improve from front to back for this senario to even be plausible though.

After Hambone buys out the Bama and Florida games, I think 9 wins is easily attainable.

I'm leaning towards fact at this point...we'll see how I feel at the end of this season though

We're still very young and lack veteran depth in key positions in 2011 so 9 wins would be a HUGE accomplishment that I won't stake much hope in. I'll be very satisfied with 8 wins and obvious improvement across the board and another strong recruiting class. That should project well into a 2012 breakout year that would begin to heal the pain from the lost years of 2005 to Dooley's hire.

I see where we "could" win 9 of those games but with whats happened in the past 2 seasons I'm not quick to gurantee anything these days.

UGA- Will eventualy get back to Georgia football
Cincy- Not sure what they have after this season but with Kelly at ND I don't look for them to be a serouis threat for awhile.

LSU- Hard to tell...could be post Miles Era by then?

On paper, it looks like UT will be pretty damn solid in 2011. Another tough schedule, but 9 wins looks reasonable.

Really depends on the coaching.

any idea on how the attrition shakes out for those teams and our Vols?? Might end up making a difference. UT has lost 30 players in the last 21 months. don't expect anything near that dramatic, but all the teams will lose players beofre 2011 to change their teams.

If Dooley coaches in games as well as he runs practices and conducts media relations, I would say 9 wins is very achievable. By then we will have experience at O-Line and will have a young but very talented D-Line to anchor both sides of the ball. We will have a QB with more experience to throw to one of the deepest receiving corps we've had in my recent memory. We may have a two or three headed monster at RB with Oku being a solid 20 carries per game type back and Neal spelling him. Throw in a possibly great True Freshman performance by Tom Smith and we've easily got the ingredients to knock skulls in the SEC. LB will suffer from graduation, but the backups will get plenty of big game experience in 2010, so maybe we won't have a huge drop off. DB's will be solid if not excellent. Special teams should also be solid. I think we can safely put the measuring stick of how good Dooley is at 9 wins for next season.

Cock Fans: Fiction! According to our fan base, we are going to beat UT for the next 4-5 years.

Reality: Fact! When typing in mediocre in Google I get "Did you mean University of South Carolina?"

I'm not going to choose Fact or Fiction. I would rather say, possibility. I think it's possible, but 9 wins is not going to be easy. The good news is, next year looks much better than this year.
