It's a good thing they do. Doesn't stop me from finding the host and pretty much everybody else annoying. Do not watch.

Most people on there need to get a job , stop having kids they can't support and wasn't like 1/3 end up selling their houses because they can't afford them? I'm not being mean but seriously I grew up dirt poor and my family worked their you know what off , we didn't have a show send us to Disneyland and build us a house ! On that note happy new years :)

In a lot of cases they screw those people in the long run.

Not the folks who get a new house with their mortgage taken care of.

I have wondered when they do the bedroom themes for the kids on how long it is before the teenage boy gets sick of sleeping in a fire truck bed. It'd be tough for a playa to get laid in a fire truck bed.

I was on the show when they built a house in Hendersonville.

It's really funny to watch all the manual laborers scatter when the cameras turn on so Ty can look like he's doing something

How did they get "screwed" when they use the home as collateral on a dumbass business decision?

because they were basically handed $450k with no idea what to do with it. Had the makeover people just fixed what was wrong with their house they would never have been in the situation. Not necessarily their fault but they really want to build these huge houses for tv with no idea about the ramifications. There is never a house within blocks of the ones they built that was even close to the size.

We supplied one of the houses with fixtures and I got to see it first hand. The size and price of things they put into them was ridiculous

Live in it and be happy living relatively debt free.

Did the company you worked for write it off as a charitable donation?

That's one reason they go so ridiculous with the houses.

There are other issues as well. utilities on some of these house have to be insane, Taxes on all of the prizes, and I still don't see how you can build a house that fast and it not have long term structure problems. Someone also mentioned the themed rooms that will look stupid once the kids grow up.

In most cases they genuinely help the family but not always.

They're the ones taking a free house.

Is Extreme Home Makeover forcing these monstrosities on people?

I see your point but you hand someone money that has no clue what's it should be used for and they get in trouble 99.9% of the time.

Our company sort-of wrote it off. The real vendor got their name out there but since we have the most stock we got to supply it. Odd situation to be honest
