I'm left scratching my head and admittedly don't claim to understand the funding source for every part of the football program.

What is the difference in funding between the $150M Neyland Renovation and the football coaches' salaries?

The Neyland renovations will mainly be funded by private donations - Tennessee Fund plus fund raising specifically for Neyland upgrades.

The coaches salaries come from revenue generated via tickets, TV deals, corporate sponsors, etc.

I think it's a movie about pool hustlers with Paul Newman and Tom Cruise.

Thanks for the reply.

When the topic of "coaches salaries" come up, there is always mention of "boosters." How does that fit in?

Thanks again.

Boosters donate a lot of money and as a result have some influence on the AD.

I doubt anyone on VN could say with certainty how it works, but buyouts and coaches salaries could be impacted by boosters.

Now that I think about it, not sure how my answer aligns with my previous post.

"Tennessee’s Board of Trustees approved a $106 million renovations project Friday.
Funding will come from accumulated reserves ($15 million), donations ($10 million, pledged capital gifts ($21.3 million), and debt services secured by operating revenues ($59.7 million)."

Use Bama as a reference here, Mal Moore (God rest his soul) offered Rich Rodriguez the job in New York after they fired Shula all while the Boosters were working on trying to get Saban. The Boosters then went to Mal Moore and told him that if he wanted to keep his job he would take back the offer from RR. A few days later Saban was named coach of the Crimson Tide. I have no idea if this story is true but this is how it supposedly went down.
