The logic that moving on earlier from Dooley will set us back doesn't make sense to me. How can leaving an obviously bad situation be bad. You say it will hurt recruiting, well if he leaves next year we will loose next year's class. You say he needs more time. I haven't seen anything that says that would be a good use of time. If this guy is retained and doesn't pan out then what. We will be putting ourselves behind the 8 ball if we don't move cause everyone else will move. I think some of you want Dooley to be here so badly you are blind by what this guy actually is. Nothing he has done displays his ability to be a good coach it displays the exact opposite. I am a open book someone inform me so I can be a posiVOL.

It's not an obviously bad situation. We were in a 3 year deficit when DD got here due to the talent collapse of 2007-2009. Right now we have a roster that is barely SEC caliber for starters, not even in some places (secondary). For us just to get a 2 deep roster compared to UGA, UF, Bama, LSU will take 2 recruiting cycles ~5-6 yrs.

Short answer: They're beginning to visibly do alot of the little things well and more consistently on both sides of the ball. Defense front 7 are playing pretty well considering new scheme and banged up lbs. We are hurt by no secondaryplayers that are playing at an SEC level, not progressing well, and transitioning to a new scheme. Having to compensate for the back 4 is holding back the whole defense tremendously. Realistically no matter the coach we won't be competing for SEC east til 2015 but we can win 9 reg. season games next 2 years. It's a process and we're getting there, success isn't linear, there are peaks and valley's.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but Dooley's entire tenure at UT has been nothing but a gigantic valley. If beating NC State or Cincy can be defined as a "peak", then we might as well just accept the fact that we are the new Vandy.

I cant think of any advantage to fire Dooley this year instead of last year...maybe unless Gruden comes:)
