If your coaching staff can recruit, then I doubt adding TAMU or Free Shoes U will hurt. They will still get their players and, if our coaching staff does their jobs, we will too. The SEC is already the top conference and now it just adds a few more teams, but remains on top. No selling point changes for UT if this move happens.

I agree. I just am not comfortable with the other possible ramifications of expansion. (ie: the Bama game being lost)

In the short-term, I agree. In the long term, increased exposure in Texas might help.

If the Bama game stays on the schedule, I'm ok with expansion. If it changes and we drop them from our schedule I am strongly against it. I don't want anything messing with the tradition or our SEC rivalries.

I agree.......this is a good point. What good player is not going to want to play in this "Super Conference "? These so called power house schools can't get 'em all!

According to some, if the expansion happens, Tennessee will never be more than Kentucky

That could possibly happen. It could happen even without expansion as well. Just sayin' that - below the Mason Dixon line especially - These kids will want the exposure that this conference will bring. The prestige in playing in, not only the ultimate best conference, but the biggest.

I was listening to Sirrus yesterday and they said there was no way they could stop the Tn and Bama game because of the rivalry.just what I heard

I think it's exactly what will happen.

Why? as long as we maintain our brand and have competent people around the program we should never be any worse off than we are now.

....we're still recruiting the same kids and they all cant go to the same school. If anything the influx of these other schools would enhance our appeal to more kids outside of the south and we would get more kids to come into the SEC.

I don't think anything will change. Kids will still want to play for Dooley and Co and UT will still have the best facilities in the nation

As long as we don't lose our pipeline to Georgia, we should be fine. It's our bread and butter.

This^..I dont think this will hurt Tn all that much. With or without the expansion our recruiting is still going to be hard. But winning can solve alot.Kids that lives outside the state will still come to Tn.Not ever kid in Tx,Ga,Fla is fans of those states.Tn kids leaves the state.
All stars dont come out of Tx,Ga,Fla. There was a reason Tn recruited Ohio,NY and other northern states for years.
Just a handful of stars cant all go to Bama,Fla and LSU.
Just win on the field and everything else will take care of itself.

Remember how big the nebraska-oklahoma game used to be? When they joined the conference formerly known as the big 12, that annual rivalry stopped immediately. UT-Bama could go the same way.

Expanding the SEC will help how? Will it help the conference win NCs? Already doing that.

My wife is an Aggie, I like being able to root for both teams. Aggies have great fans. Much better SEC type than longhorns...longhorns much more like florida. Not sure, but I think 12 in SEC is enough.

Seems like alot of the same reaction the last time the SEC expanded.

This is going to be fun, IMO.

I am ok with AM joining the conference. My problem comes if the the SEC adds 3 more teams to make a grand total of 16. If two of the three is FSU and Clemson this would spell trouble for TN. I hope that the SEC stops at 14 and it is somebody like West Virginia, NC State, or Louville. Misso is crazy and makes totally no sense. Also kiss the BAMA game goodbye even at 14 teams 7 eastern conference games the season will be too short. They could keep BAMA on but that would be one huge schedule every year.

One thing I will note: why does Tennessee play road games where it does? We schedule them around recruiting, to exposure people in talent rich areas to our brand. What's one of the most talent rich areas that we don't hit too often? Texas. So games against Texas A&M theoretically serve the recruiting purpose that some of our high-profile non-cons do now.

Everybody gets to sign the same amounts of recruits and there are plenty to go around. We may lose on some guys, but we already do that so no major loss. More exposer in other markets might turm some new people on to us. We do have a lot to offer.

Only winning or cash help recruiting. We have the facilities we just need to win because I for one don't wanna be like the barn.
