Not sure if any formation adjustments were made at halftime, but our midfield was largely invisible in both halves. That being said, we did have our chances, and I hate to see the game winner coming off a poor pass. She'll learn from it and get stronger. One frustration I had though, was if we were going to play the long ball so much, I'm not sure why most of the time there was not a forward in the area for the 50/50 ball. Glad they made the tourney. They played two great games in the SEC tourney to play themselves in, and hopefully they will be stronger next year. And they found themselves a keeper for the next three years!

Tennessee Comes Up Short to #12/24 Virginia Tech in First Round of NCAA Tournament, 2-1​


BLACKSBURG, Va. - Tennessee comes up short in its NCAA Tournament First Round match, losing 2-1 to No. 12/24 Virginia Tech.

UT (9-7-4) concluded its 2024 campaign having posted eight clean sheets on the season and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the fourth consecutive season.

Junior Kennedy Price was the goal-scorer for the Lady Vols with Sammi Woods and Mac Midgley earning the assists. Freshman Cayden Norris played the full 90 minutes in goal, making a career-high six saves.

Anna Weir and Natalie Mitchell found the net for the Hokies.

Virginia Tech's first goal of the game came in the second minute when Samantha DeGuzman found Weir.

Tennessee quickly responded in the fifth minute when Midgley found Woods down field who delivered it in to Price for the tap in goal.

After quick scores from each team, the rest of the first half was a defensive battle as the Hokies were only able to create one more chance before the break.

In the 51st minute, Mitchell found the goal for the Hokies to put them back ahead.

Freshman Reese Mattern created a chance for the Lady Vols in the 70th minute but Virginia Tech's Lauren Hargrove made the save.

They was a article some posted in Lady volunteers basketball.
Danny said if any other school they love to have Kellie coach twenty years.
The women's basketball Fan's have a national championship or you're fired More than any sports.

Getting back to joe he has good players going in. IT would put Tennessee in rebuilting mode if they didnt get someone recuit and coach. ASK @MAD TENNESSEE not going to be a top TEAM IN NIL ON SOCCER. Or spend alot of TENNESSEE twenty million per school on soccer.

And for the boosters regulation is coming. Part of the lawsuit i have talk about has possiable limits on deals over 50k from NILgroups Big boasters could be losing some of their say who gets fired or hired.

Definitely a good class coming in. The real measurement is going to be who we lose to the portal. That will be the indication of how the players feel about the state of the program and Danny’s office should be watching this closely.

Joe a new head coach head coach who wasn't a head coach before in college? My understanding of Joe's coaching.
There's no boasters telling the athletic director they won't support Joe's coaching women's soccer.?
Haven't kept will social media on Soccer is there the support to fire Joe Kit.?
Having let a national coach of the year while at Maryland and now at Florida State defending national championship coachl leave.
Don't think fired Joe he not even had the five years most football coaches get.
Being fair to DW don't know if they offer Florida State current head coach same money he would have stay since Florida State Soccer history.

Tennessee played Mississippi state top 2/3 team to overtime. We all just watch VA TECT game offence has improved goal shots on goal. MORE HIGH RAKED PLAYERS ODDS MORE GOALS WILL BE SCORED NEXT YEAR.

I don’t think it’s necessary. Future looks promising after Pensky destroyed the program.

Tennessee had more turnover the last two years than any other program.

Eleven players left from last years squad either in the portal or were asked to leave.

We have some great players coming back from injuries and this current freshman class has so much potential that we are just discovering. This was still a makeshift squad that Kirt was dealing with and he got Ilya to the NCAA tournament, 3 years in a row.

Next year is gonna be special and we have great players and they WANT to be here.

That’s the thing, I don’t expect us to lose many in the portal. They want to play here and they want to play for Joe.

Yes, once the soccer season ends I’m gonna do a highlight on each of the new freshman, a lot of great strikers coming in. There is one that even played on the Brazilian youth national team. There are a lot great freshman that never saw the field due to taking a redshirt or injury that will surprise a lot of people.
