It's so true! It's also why I only give to the BoostHer Club, aside from the required donations to have our Lady Vols bball tickets. I'm very unimpressed with the investment in women's sports broadly, particularly soccer where Joe Kirt doesnt even hold press conferences, relative to other schools.

A two-time First Team All-State and three-time All-Region honoree, she was named Region Player of the Year in 2023. She plays club for Richmond United, earning Mid-Atlantic First Team honors in 2022 and 2023 and Second Team accolades in 2021.

The whistle blew, but Sydney Miller didn’t move. She glared at the goalkeeper for seven seconds before jogging up and unleashing a shot that ruffled the net and sent her teammates into a frenzy.
Staredown successful, state championship achieved.
First Colonial rallied from a two-goal deficit to force overtime at 3-3 and eventually beat visiting Briar Woods 3-2 in penalty kicks to win the Class 5 girls soccer state title Wednesday.
“In U10 I remember my coach saying to me if you ever take a PK, look the goalkeeper in the eye for a solid five to six seconds because it makes them real nervous,” Miller said. “More pressure on them than you, then bang it in the corner.”

Debuting this season as part of a groundbreaking collaboration between the two leagues, the NWSL x LIGA MX Femenil Summer Cup kicks off July 19 featuring all 14 NWSL clubs and the six teams with the most points achieved in LIGA MX Femenil Clausura and Apertura during 2023, including Tigres UANL, Club América, Chivas de Guadalajara, Rayadas de Monterrey, Pachuca and Tijuana.

WHEN​

Kicking off on July 19, the 33-match tournament will consist of 30 group stage contests followed by a four-team semifinal round on August 6. CPKC Stadium, home of the Kansas City Current, in Kansas City, Missouri, will host the doubleheader semifinal round. The championship match will be staged at Toyota Field in San Antonio, Texas, on Friday, October 25.

HOW TO WATCH​

CBS Sports will be the exclusive English-language distributor of all 33 Summer Cup games, with every match set to stream live on Paramount+, 11 matches simulcasting on CBS Sports Golazo Network and 12 matches simulcasting on CBS Sports Network, including the semifinals and championship match.

TUDN, the sports programming branch of Spanish-language network Univision, will air three group stage matches while NWSL+ will serve as the Spanish-language home for the remaining group stage matches in the U.S.

A Knoxville native, Stott attended Bearden High School where she won three TSSAA State Championships, was a three-time TSWA All-State selection and finished her high school career with 84 goals and 69 assists. She was named Five Star Preps Co-Player of the Year with teammate and fellow signee Nyla Blue, and she was chosen to participate in the 2023 Girls High School All-American Game, where she was named a Top 15 Performer by Top Drawer Soccer. She plays club soccer for FC Alliance, earning All-Conference honors.

A Knoxville native, Blue led Bearden High School to three consecutive state championships and finished her high school career with a record of 88-1-2. A two-time All-State and four-time All-Region and All-District nominee, Blue spent her freshman season at Girls Preparatory School before arriving at Bearden for her final three seasons. She served as captain during her senior campaign and earned 2023 High School All-America honors. A participant in the 2023 Girls All-America Game, she earned Best XI and Co-MVP honors.   • Scored her second collegiate goal and first game-winner at FAU, connecting on a corner kick in the 22nd minute.

2022 - SOPHOMORE​

  • Appeared in four matches as a sub, totaling 85 minutes of action.
  • Ran onto a beautiful cross from Maddie Eskin to drill home her first collegiate goal in the 90th minute of the shutout victory over Queens University of Charlotte (9/11/22).
  • Logged her first action of the season when she entered as a sub during Tennessee's home win over Bowling Green (8/31/22).

2023 (Sophomore) Appeared in 17 matches during the season… Scored her lone goal of the season against Baylor, tying the match 2-2 in the 87th minute… Recorded her lone start of the season against West Virginia, where she played in a season high 76 minutes. Finished the year with 13 shots and seven on goal.


2022 (Freshman): In her first season as a Bearcat she appeared in all 17 games with four starts… Finished the season with one and three assist in 554 minutes on the pitch… Notched her first career goal against Stony Brook on Sept. 1, when she also played a career-high 70 minutes… Made her colligate debut against Northern Kentucky on Aug. 18.


High School: Competed for Ravenwood High School… Named a 2022 TSWA Class AAA All-State Selection...
