Excessive Injuries..??

has nothing to do with weight training. Look at the Atlanta braves and all the injuries they had this year and last year too. Look at Tennessee mens basketball and all the injuries already and season hasn't even started. It's all luck.

The breaks and ACLs arent caused by weights. You can do sand put work to strengthen them but at the end of the day physics always wins.

That and the fact playing on artificial turf is still allowed.. GT cost us Ethan Davis. Moi got whiplashed and rolled up so thats just a freak incident. If they were non contact injuries I'd be more concerned. Most of ours are due to contact which means like you said physics wins no matter how much you train ligaments... they can only take so much force.

Qua Moss took a knee to the helmet on a tackle and from the stands I thought it knocked him out for a few seconds.. I mean I haven't seen any injuries that make me think it's a strength and conditioning issue. Farooq was a contact injury that hurt him in camp... Just football being physical and bad luck on timing of injuries. Just my opinions

Public Service Announcement. The following statement is the painfully obvious:

You always always always mitigate the injury problem with depth. It's just a fact that we don't have as much as Texas/Gump/Georgia etc etc....

Until we do.... this will always be a problem.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled whine fest.

You got it. Injuries happen everywhere. We notice it more because we follow our favorite team religiously. It also stings because when we have a starter go out it’s usually a true freshman behind them. You essentially have to shell out double the NIL to keep the experienced backups from looking elsewhere. Not many schools are able to do that.

I mean you can do ligaments specific training like baseball players. but if you apply the right torq it's done

You're not wrong, I was just saying must of ours have been of the contact variety which leads me to think it's not a S&C issue. Non contacts would make me more concerned about our program.

Here's today's SEC injury report......while high, we're right on par with most of the teams. Florida has the least amount of listed injuries. But Bama has just as many as us. Its just a contact sport.

I also think our defense is SO physical that could also he a contributing factor.

I have very few complaints about Heup.

Lose to Auburn though and it becomes a lot tougher

Has anyone noticed the excessive serious injuries we’re seeing already..? We’re just getting into the real meat of our season. It seems like the number of players on the injury list , even out for the season is already more than we should have. During the offseason months, we heard a lot about dramatic increases in the weight room. The question is… have those gains for some been accompanied by others going too far, actually doing damage to joints, tendons etc.
I know it happens to me when I get careless and push too hard when lifting.
Just a thought.

You can’t judge your staff off one bad year of injuries. Sometimes Lady Luck just catches up with you.

Yeah... lose today and seat does get warm. I don't think firing is in order unless its a complete disaster this year but it will be uncomfortable in knoxville to say the least.

Have you looked at other teams? They're having serious injuries too, it's not just us. Just a part of football.
