Has anyone noticed the excessive serious injuries we’re seeing already..? We’re just getting into the real meat of our season. It seems like the number of players on the injury list , even out for the season is already more than we should have. During the offseason months, we heard a lot about dramatic increases in the weight room. The question is… have those gains for some been accompanied by others going too far, actually doing damage to joints, tendons etc.
I know it happens to me when I get careless and push too hard when lifting.
Just a thought.

It's bad luck not bad conditioning.

When they report a player is out due to falling on a helmet ala Shy Tuttle in Butch era. Where we had over 20 players out with injuries, then we have a problem.

OP is just asking a question...and maybe not an unreasonable one, at that. I doubt it's the case, but we do have an unusual number of guys out for the year since beginning of fall practice. Too many posters just looking to criticize.

I do think we have had more than our share of injuries, but it may be that I don’t know how other teams are faring.while it is easy to theorize, it may be that they are playing harder than in recent years.

Latest report has Bama, Mizzo, UK ad UT with 7 out. USCe has 6 out and Vandy has 5 out. UT is not an outlier with excessive injuries. Everybody in the SEC is dealing with injuries.Football is a violent sport. Basketball is a contact sport, football is an attacking sport.

Exactly. LSU has similar #s injured also, including 2 LBs in the 2-deep (one of them captain), starting nickel, best TE, best edge, 2 WRs, and now QB1 battling hamstring. 🤷

It’s a fair question
It is a very fair question. Vols are down 3 important starters w/ season ending injuries and 7 total impact players (plus Umarov today apparently).

By contrast, Auburn is down 1 marginal starter and 2 more unavailable impact players today...from what I can tell.

Seems noteworthy to me.

There are so many complex variables when it comes to injuries. Sometimes a team is simply unlucky - and I think (key word) that’s the case for UT football this year.

Also - as mentioned by others, the portal and NIL era has made depth an even bigger issue. Depth players can leave and go elsewhere / get more money. And players can “shut it down” / still get paid and maybe get drafted.

While this is and cannot be a “totalizing” statement, it is nonetheless somewhat true: the days of “giving your all for TN” are over. Having said that, I imagine many of the season ending injuries are truly season ending.

Lame Kitten says it's because of the SEC 9 conference game schedule---LSU has only played a couple SEC games this year, so his observations must be spot on

Damn those pesky conference games o_O o_O o_O o_O o_O

Public Service Announcement. The following statement is the painfully obvious:

You always always always mitigate the injury problem with depth. It's just a fact that we don't have as much as Texas/Gump/Georgia etc etc....

Until we do.... this will always be a problem.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled whine fest.
