Sad. Really.

I see a decent amount of the fanbase has turned, unsurprising.

Just to let you know, UT was up 31-7. What happened? The players let up. You know why?

That's what they've done their entire time here.

Hell, they let up against WKU, but got bailed out by another INT.

Did Coach Jones makes mistakes? Yes. Does Coach Jones need to correct some things from a coaching perspective on him and his staff? Absolutely. They are not clean.

However, (and I hate to sound like such an ******* here, but I'll explain) this is a team full of losers. Let me clarify. Other than a couple redshirt seniors, these guys do not know what a winning football team is at the SEC level. They dif not know what an SEC level coaching staff was till this past April. They are still adjusting to a new coaching staff. For the seniors, this is their third defense in four years. For the offense, they lost all their playmakers and their quarterback. Are they losers off the field or should we mock them for their performance? No! What I'm saying is that this team does not know what a winning team does. That's part of the battle Coach Jones talks about. That's what he means by "the process" and "building a foundation". It's not just tired football cliches, he actually has to build a winning football team from the ground up, because all these players know is disappointment, heartache, and losing. That's not even their fault. It's just how it is right now.

There are positives. The secondary has greatly improved from last year. We have a pass rush this season. The run game, while not great, has improved from last year, and both Lane and Neal are better backs. The wideouts will be scary good next year and are getting better every game. There are negatives. The coaching staff is too conservative. They lack awareness on third down. The vanilla play design is confusing. It's just like any other situation in life. Positives and negatives.

Step off the ledge. Criticism is fine. Trying to fire people five games into a regime is silly, stupid, and shortsighted. I'm not going to give the whole "Rome wasn't built in a day" speech, but we are 3-2. The same exact record everyone with a decent head on their shoulders knew what it would be after five games. Wait until the end of the year, when we have the evidence, and then we can come to a logical conclusion on where the program is headed.

Hear, hear!

We're 3-2 and exactly where we expected to be after five games. We outperformed at times (1st half vs Florida, 1st half vs USA, 2nd half vs WKU) and we've underperformed at others (2nd half vs USA, Oregon game).

We've seen significant improvement in the running game, the secondary, and with the (very young) wide receiver corps. We still have a lot of weaknesses, but I can see progress week to week. This is the opposite of how it was with Dooley where we seemed to get worse as the year went on.

I suspect we're in store for more doom and gloom with UGA next on the schedule. The real test IMO is the end stretch with Mizzou, Auburn, Vandy, and UK. If Butch has us at 6-6 and in a bowl game, we're doing better than expected.

No way that recruiting class stays together. It will erode as the losses really start to pile up, starting next week.

Can I see evidence for this?

You have none.

The players aren't idiots. They know it's a process and it's a rebuilding job.

I said before the season that we wouldn't know anything meaningful about Butch Jones The Football Coach until we get into November. I still think that's true.

Let's sticky this thread and compare the class on signing day to the commitments we have now.

Dont bring them back from the edge, let those mf'ers jump.

We've already seen from the "I'm done" threads they land right back where we already are.

1st season at Cinci (i think) Butch only won 4 games. It's going to be a long season and anyone not prepared for that needs to disconnect this season.

What exactly is happening now, that you didn't expect to happen?

So daft.

Really? You expected us to struggle with US of A? I can actually say I did, as I was only off by 5 points in my score prediction. Doesn't change the fact it is pathetic.

The fact is that the team is 3-2. 2 losses, 1 in blowout fashion and 3 wins against clearly inferior opponents, 2 in blowout fashion. It's exactly what I expected.

Y'all are the ones freaking out. I'm just stating my opinion that the coaching is abysmal. I didn't realize the boys were now playing for The University of Butch Jones.

Nick Saban lost to UAB in Baton Rouge his first year with the LSU Tigers.

Derek Dooley went into Baton Rouge and was one crazy ass **** up away from beating a national championship coach.

**** happens with first year head coaches you can't explain.
