Everyone’s “sources”

Everyone that has sources just say that so they can point the finger at someone else when they are wrong.

I agree. Everyones' sources are coming from the same place... right out of the clear blue sky and the wildest imaginations. Isn't it so much fun!!! Willie Wonka would be so proud of us! By the way, did you know he was born in SE Tennessee? Yes, but then his dental dad moved him up north during the depression. Anyway, Willie would be so proud of our imaginations regarding our coaching search. Carry on for Willie!!! GBO...

I was asking around if anyone wanted to carpool... no one did so I made the trek by my lonesome.

...Sadly, I got a little too lonely and picked up a hitchhiker just outside Valdosta on my way down. We stopped at Pilot to get some coffee and the last thing I remember is him handing me my drink. I woke up the next morning in my own trunk to the sound of gunshots. I screamed for hours but no one came. After what I figured to be a couple days, an older lady named Lucille heard my screams and helped me get the trunk open. She was 82 years old and even in the midst of being covered in my own urine and feces I knew the moment I saw her it was true love. We got married at a little bed in breakfast just outside Vancouver and found a little cabin in the mountains to live in. I didn't have internet connection or cable so I wasn't able to check in on VN. I didn't think much about it anyways. I was head over heels. Lucille and I made rigorous love every day for nearly 2 years. Sadly, she passed away last month. I was devastated. I took the $50,000 life insurance money and spent about a week drinking and shooting cocaine to numb out the pain of my loss. Then a strange voice spoke to me one night in my sleep. All the voice said was "Grumors...Grumors..." I knew something was up, so I sobered up and took the last few bucks I had to get back to Knoxville and start over.

So you can see my frustrations with all these people saying they've heard from their "source" who our next coach is!

My sweet Lucille...

Actual journalists that work for TV, newspapers and websites do this literally every day.

How come you expect random anonymous message board posters to do something different when the "pros" do it?

Actual journalism is dead. The ‘pros’ are terrible now, they’ll say anything and everything to just maybe be the one to break a story first. They can safely say anything along with (unconfirmed) in this age and it’s ok. I think that’s BS and I blame Twitter. I wish that crap would just die an uneventful death like xanga and MySpace did.

As one who admits not to be an insider, any opinion of who those 1-3 posters are...and what they think?

I don't know, man, it's really really hard to tell.

But two who stand out for me are Atlanta Vol, and a fella I never saw before lately named Goinuponatuesday or something like that (everyone just calls him Tuesday).

Atlanta Vol has said it's going to be a choice that we will be very happy with, and he said it in the Gruden threads. He didn't name Gruden, though, and seemed to say that there's also a backup choice in place and that we'd really like the backup as well.

Since the folks in the Gruden thread really, really do not like Mullen as an option, I personally think Atlanta Vol's comments rule him out.

The other fella, Tuesday, claims to be friends with Tee Martin, and has seemed believable over the last couple of weeks. He said early on that Tee would not come to Tennessee as a coordinator, because he is looking for a HC job. But then one day he suddenly seemed to be hinting strongly that Tee is involved in the coaching moves (and not as a head coach).

Anyway, those are the only two people I've seen posting here in the past three weeks who I believe really have insider news.

LWS would be a third, but he said himself a couple of months ago that he has pretty much taken himself out of the loop in the past year.

So for me, it's pretty much those two for now.

I'm 100% sold it is Gruden. More than willing to admit a big part of that is hope, but hey...nothing wrong with hope. Go Vols!

Haven’t posted in a while, but l feel like it needs to be said...

Throughout this coaching search, so many people have said something along the lines of “my source tells me...” and then followed up with “they have never been wrong before!” We’ve heard from “sources” that it’s for sure Gruden at $10 mill a year! Then a source says it’s not Gruden and never was even offered. Another source says it’s Mullen, it’s not Mullen, it’s Petersen, it’s not Petersen, and on and on and on.

First off, I think everyone needs to re-evaluate the credibility of their so called “sources.” l get that everyone wants to be the guy that breaks the news and gets to say “I told you guys!” But frankly that kind of “reporting” is just irresponsible and annoying. So to all the people with “sources,” just stop. l know you won’t stop, but that doesn’t mean someone should say it anyway.
I could have told you that any source that said Gruden was wrong a long time ago

My sweet Lucille...

That's only tangentially supportive of the news I heard involving you sharing a hotel room with two strippers in a Holiday Inn in southern Georgia that weekend, then having to work several months in the kitchens there to pay off the bill they left you with.

Was Lucille by chance a stripper? Either earlier in life or at the time she found you?

Thanks, I thought I was the only VN member that didn't have a "source".
