Haven’t posted in a while, but l feel like it needs to be said...

Throughout this coaching search, so many people have said something along the lines of “my source tells me...” and then followed up with “they have never been wrong before!” We’ve heard from “sources” that it’s for sure Gruden at $10 mill a year! Then a source says it’s not Gruden and never was even offered. Another source says it’s Mullen, it’s not Mullen, it’s Petersen, it’s not Petersen, and on and on and on.

First off, I think everyone needs to re-evaluate the credibility of their so called “sources.” l get that everyone wants to be the guy that breaks the news and gets to say “I told you guys!” But frankly that kind of “reporting” is just irresponsible and annoying. So to all the people with “sources,” just stop. l know you won’t stop, but that doesn’t mean someone should say it anyway.

Everyone that has sources just say that so they can point the finger at someone else when they are wrong.

Haha, don't waste the bandwidth typing this. What you say is true, but will never happen. :)

Hey somebody will get it right and then they will say see my sources are great.

Actual journalists that work for TV, newspapers and websites do this literally every day.

How come you expect random anonymous message board posters to do something different when the "pros" do it?

You have an internet chat board for the Tennessee Vols that you can be part of with complete anonymity and without proof you are actually a fan of said program.

So, you are sure of the loyalties of the posters you are addressing? Right!

My sources say you are spot on asking the prognosticators to cease and desist but it’s not going to happen with this group. I applaud you though. Now carry on.

Difference is journalist, well good ones anyway, generally have real sources inside the organizations they are covering.

Most people on a message board are maybe friends with the cousin of a low level donor.

As for this search. I think Currie has done a good job keeping the leaks tapped down. Everything I have seen, even from journalists, has been pure speculation.

Skasper, the vast majority of the people you're addressing don't really have any sources.

They're mostly trolls and people who need attention.

If you can count 30 people who claim inside info, my guess would be about 10-12 of them are trolls, another 15+ are folks who crave attention, and only a very few (1 to 3) actually have information from an inside source.

And the trolls and attention-seekers aren't going to change their ways just because we would like them to.

Uh, this is kinda how anonymous fan driven message boards work.

We'll have to wait for an official announcement before any of us have "facts".

Until then, the foolishness here is good for passing time.

My source is rock solid. I trust him more than anyone on this board. I put three plates of food on the floor. My source ate the "No One Knows" plate first, not Gruden nor Mullen. Then he jumped on my lap and licked my face with food still on his face.

Check the Polls........is there any form of life that has a lower rating than the Media.
Now Sports Reporters would probably rate a smidgen higher than normal media...but EVERYONE wants to break the story and IF they don't, their FIRST comments will be I knew it right before the story broke, ONE my sources told me......bla bla bla bla
Let's get this over with, tell us who it is and we can start tearing him down and cussin the whys and why nots....
Let get this party started.....

My sources tell me Leach.

My sources are latest rumors. A couple of "big-time media internet message board blogs", and my biased preference inside my head.

My sources were saying Gruden, Mullen and Peterson.

My sources have settled and their expectations lowered slightly after Vandy.

They've never been wrong before.

OP - you are correct, but the real change is how much stock you should put into what you read online.

Lots of good posts above. To sum up, it will be much easier to change your own behavior than that of others. Take it all with a grain of salt.

WE have a WHOOOOOOOOOOOOLE lot of posters on VN that should know better than to trust these "insiders" that don't know Jack Squat. It's even worse this time around as many of the same sources in most cases will be found to be liars, their promoters in effect boosting lies and the liars, and will find no shame. Some will disappear for awhile due to the embarrassment and show back up down the way just as they did the last time and will promote how inside they are. Over time, for me, the only guys I have found as VN posters remotely close to being inside enough to call things accurately in advance are LWSVOL and DEERPARK. The rest are posers or are being lied to by posers as their source IMO.

In today’s world, a source is often “something I read on the Internet.”

That being said, I don’t go around telling my family and friends about most of the rumors I read on VN. I may present it as a rumor or say I don’t know if this is true or not but....

At that point it is just harmless fun and speculation. But I never pretend to be an insider.

Currie said all along, unless you hear it from him, don’t believe it. So that’s where I am.

As one who admits not to be an insider, any opinion of who those 1-3 posters are...and what they think?

As frustrating as it is, this gives me hope that Currie knows what he's doing.

If that were “free coaching rumors” I’d probably jump right in. LoL

Weren't you looking to share a ride/room to the bowl game vs Iowa a few years ago?

That's what that picture was about. Sorry if I confused you with another poster.

It was to the Outback Bowl in Tampa...

I didn't think we'd EVER "see" Skasper again...
