I was never sold on Dooley. He made a joke of anything to do with UT football most around here would jump off a cliff for him though!

so stability is the answer even if u keep losing.. ask bama how that worked out.. u/keep firing until u find a leader that can turn it around..

fire hart n cheek first.. please look at the product on the field n ask r they coached any better than last year n the answer is no.. n hart wanted to keep dools... n hired bj so that is the guy in charge he thought dools was the answer--

Hmmm ok I will bite. You wanna bring up Saban I suppose? Ok then lets talk about Saban. Name me one coach, outside of maybe Tom Osbourne, that is on his level,in college football. You make it sound like we can just go out there and hire a Saban. Get real. Coaches that good come along a few times in a generation.

Keep hiring and firing? Cool. So we are still paying Dooley and if we were to buy out Jones contract, we would be paying him for 5 years. So I am curious, where do we get the money? Also since you have the solution, who do you think is best for the job? Nick Sabans are so easy to find so where do we find the next one?

It goes without saying our program is removed from its glory days. But everyone has their own views as to why...

Some say it's the curse of Fulmer and we should have never fired him.

Others say that Kiffin left the program in disarray with a bitter fan base and a depleted roster and those that remained many of them dwindled off eventually and were never productive.

Well Dooley was a great guy who had many of us sold on his business like antics and southern talk. I believe had us all sold from the beginning but tbh he found a way to lose football games that many times he shouldn't have been it and then with the help of Hart's buddy Sal he just sank the ship lower than the titanic.

Butch comes in energizes our fan base improves attendance competes in a few games and goes lights out to this point with recruiting and is setting at 4-6.

Realistically and financially possible what is the solution to our football program that could actually come to fruition?

Get an AD that's not a Bama lover!

I understand Dooley sold a lot of people on here complete sets of Encyclopedia Britannica by getting to believe that this internet thing was just a fad....

Short of paying top dollar for the best players or dropping to a lower level conference, I don't see things getting better real soon.

I thought this thread was about solutions, not complaints. There are many more complaint threads out there waiting for your input.

Stability is the big one for sure. That didn't start the down fall, but that is the major issue right now.

CBJ and staff are working hard on the recruiting trail. They will get us a nice class for 2014. Even with a mediocre year next year I think he can bring a big 2015 class.

That will give us 3 years in the same system with the same coaches. Many dislike the coordinators, but before I judge them, I want to see SEC talented players in their system.

I love our team and the guys on it, but being realistic, they aren't very good. Hopefully this staff can develope the new guys.

Having worked in a large operation with lots of turnover at the top the last couple years I can say it makes a difference in productivity. That applies right back to football. If EVERYONE doesn't buy in and give 100% then there will be failures.

I think team 117 improved on many fronts, but some of the same old demons popped up last week. It's a long grind of a season and staying focused enough to win is a challenge. I think the newer guys will develope better with stability.

Team 118 has a tougher schedule than I would like, but that's the SEC.

As fans lets be patient. Give this staff and team some support. Let's see how the next couple if years go. The fire everyone now syndrome is why we are where we are now.

Firing Fulmer with a legit championship coach on board was a failure and led a sinking ship straight to the bottom in a hurry.

I think we are in good hands now, but our fan base is rabid.

Go VOLS!

Look, UT has hitched its wagon to Jones. Let the man get his players in and let's see what he's got.

I admit, I'm not a fan of the HS antics and slogans but it doesn't really matter what I think in that regard.

All off-season this place was beside itself with excitement for Jones and Co. I'm sure by the O&W game and a million tweets by players and coaches this place will be amped up again.

^^^^ Don't get me wrong Boca, under no circumstance do I believe that this year is a fair gage to the possiblities and potential Jones Brings. Due to the recent consistancy of mediocracy I believe that he will have to be able to improve more than just team 118 or 119 to Win here. Somewhere there is a breakdown in the hierarchy of our athletic program because it has been a long times since we were this bad in all our top 3 sports.

Just the idea of Peterman frightens me. However, I do completely understand the idea of pulling Dobbs due to his inability to accomplish muc during the game. Peterman may have given us the best chance to win that night. Is it safe to assume that you do not agree with the notion of burning Riley's redshirt for the reminder of this season?

At this point no I believe we need to save Rileys redshirt. I feel if there was no confidence in Dobbs exploiting the secondary you try peterman not like it would be any worse

There have been horrible hires, for sure. Some of it brought on by ridiculous buyouts (Fulmer & Dooley). However, UT did open the checkbook for Kiff and Staff. Who knew Carroll would bolt for the NFL and UT's Staff would bolt to LA?

It's been a trainwreck on The Hill the past few years. You've got to hope that Jones can develop and coach to SEC standards. However, one knock against Jones is that he's never been anywhere longer than 3 years. Now, those jobs were lower tiered jobs and UT is a destination.

I hope for all parties involved that Jones is the man for the job.

i know a lot don't want to hear it,but it is going to take time and I don't mean the middle of next year either,CBJ will need years to help unscramble the mess that the Vols are in now

it may take him letting some coaches go,but that is up to him and Hart,he will have to stay on the recruiting trail hard and we shall see what happens

money wise,i don't think they can afford to be firing and hiring new coaches and frankly it isn't warranted right now,he should get at least 3 years from the time he gets this recruiting class on campus

you have to remember, there are going to be a bunch of freshmen competing for playing time next year and as we all know in the SEC,it is usually the norm for them to be red shirting instead of playing

there probably won't be much improvement record wise next year, the year after is when there should be signs of improvement and the start of depth starting to improve

I think that you're spot on. Butch has brought in a new system. This can take time to get the right guys in key positions such as qb, particularly when the program previously ran a more traditional Offense. On top of that, we are very very thin in many positions depth-wise. One could attribute that to recruiting, Dooley, the Kiffin dumpster fire...take your pick. In any event, financially and competitively speaking, I think UT has to see this thing through....Butch is definitely recruiting well, so as long as they can develop talent, like Dooley and his staff clearly could not, I think we will improve each year
