Comedy of errors: Tennessee passing game continues to regress - Kingsport Times-News Online

I'm so disappointed that this is the state of our program. I didn't expect an immediate turn around and I will never jump ship as a Vols fan, but this is just painful. I hate seeing a team I love so much at the bottom of the barrel. :cray:
I am suffering double-time. I left Tennessee before the Titans came, so my two teams-VOLS and Bucanneers are both struggling. Ouch.

I like Clay Travis a lot, and I'm very close to being with him on benching Crompton, but he's just flat out wrong on several of his supporting arguments.

Yeah, I have a big problem with the whole "you'll be worse next year" stuff. That's just stupid when 50% of the argument of why we suck is leaving. He's making some assertions that are just as bad as Crompton's playing of late.

Clay Travis needs to be sterilized for fear of breeding in the future! Look, I know it sucks. But the picture isn't as bleak as the media is painting it. Bottom line is Stephens won't be playing next year, either. Our new freshman qb will be taking snaps in the fall. There is a reason why Stephens won't get a chance to play this year. I find it funny though how all of these press writers that are bagging on Kiffin and the Vols now will be the same guys who will be ridin' their jocks when it all turns around!

We're going to rely on a true freshman? I don't know that this makes me feel any better, unless this kid is another Matt Barkley.

I think it's more feasible that you end up starting Stephens which would make starting him for the rest of the year the "right" option. By doing what Kiffin is doing, by simply making an example out of Crompton, he's pretty much throwing the season anyways. If he's doing that, then he might as well get some meaningful snaps for Stephens since the games don't matter anymore.

not a pleasant read but I am afraid he is correct on some points. The only thing I really would argue is CLK's record as a head coach. Oakland was a terrible football team and UT is below average in the SEC and D1. The 2012/13 seasons will be a better gauge of the coaching. You can't shoot anyone with an empty gun.

So we should go with a guy who can't even beat JC in practice?

I'm not happy with any of the options we've got for next year personally. Both seem like another recipe for disaster and another disappointing season. I hope I'm wrong.

Are you from Collierville? I grew up there:)

Major flaw he forgot to point out about Moore being open down the side line on that cross to Jones. And the announcers even pointed it out as the fans were booing for not throwing down field. There was safety help moving in fast on Moore deep in that route that would have probably ended in an INT if JC had bit and gone for it. My first reaction was the same until you saw it in the replay.

With Crompton throwing it would have been but if he had seen him earlier in the route and thrown it to his outside shoulder he would have had a chance. About that article, I have been 110% behind Kiffin but that article was pretty spot on. Painful, but spot on.

hope 5150 reads it, right off the bat he explains why CLK changed shirts

Oh wonderful:ermm:.......our coach is stupid enough to believe that changing his shirt will make the team play better. What a freaking idiot.

I knew Kiffin was dumber than a box of nails, but it is worse than I thought.

Only a mindless d-bag would argue that Chris Todd and Jon Crompton are equal talents.

Chris Todd also had how many years at Texas Tech who runs a similar, albeit not exact, offense?

I am interested in reading Clay Travis' book, however, I think this particular article is more of a vent then true journalism.
