OCI...your best case scenario on both sides of the ball adds up to 12 more players...even without Patrick that's 28 total...we'll have to drop minimum 3 players...who are the candidates?
We are not capped by the 25-man signing limit. We can backcount several towards last year. The 85-man scholarship limit is what we have to be concerned with. There will be plenty of roster attrition.
The 85 is an even bigger concern than the 25...if we're going to take 25+ then by my count we have to lose 10+ non-seniors
First look at players that are RS JRs that do not contribute (i.e. Oliver, King, Ayres) as these players will have already graduated.
Second look at true SOs that have been passed on the depth chart by younger players and have no chance to ever contribute (i.e. Smith, Carson). These players can transfer to another D-1 school, redshirt, and have two years of eligibility remaining.
Third look at RS SOs that are unlikely to ever play and may want to transfer to a D-2 school and be eligible immediately (i.e. Pair, Clark).
Fourth look at players on scholarship with the ability to continue withouta scholarship (i.e. Bullard, Carter, Brewer - MLB).
Fifth look at players leaving early for NFL Draft (i.e. Hunter, Patterson, Bray).
Finally there will be some other unforeseen roster casualties due to transfers, grades, homesickness, legal issues, etc.

Taking into account commits and targets likely to commit, what does our class look like in January as early enrollees arrive on campus? What portion of our class will already be here going through spring ball between commits and targets?
We do need another CB and Vonn Bell can hopefully fill that void.
Nice assessment overall...
Vonn Bell is a Safety prospect, he and Miles are the #2 & #13 prospects respectively.
I can see JRM (recruited as an Athlete, and similar to Jason Allen) moving to and playing CB, Marquez White would be a nice flip. Ramsey's not happening but I'm still holding out hope that Mac A. comes full circle.
Critical that we sign one, if not two-three of Grace, Lawson, Levenberry, and Ngakoue. AND one, if not both Crayton and Johnson. Bryant would be nice as well.

JRM won't be a college corner. He will be a head bustin safety or STAR. VB could play both (actually all 3), but may project better at corner. JMO.
Vonn Bell was the best cover man everywhere he went this summer. He measures in at around 5'10 which is a bit small for a safety. He can be a fine CB for us or even better at the star.
JRM can't play CB but he's going to be a great safety for us. Bell can play safety at this level but he'd be much better at CB in our defense.
They said the same about Jason Allen coming out of HS (Muscle Shoals, AL---AA RB & Gatorade Player of the Yr, recruited as an athlete) he made the transition as a Vol (playing both CB & S) and he now makes a living at CB in the league w/ the Texans. JRM is similar to JA in measurables, athleticism, and speed. Like JA, I like JRM's versatility---he can be moved around in the secondary at CB, S, and/or Star and be successful. IMO
Allen and JRM are different body types and athletes. Allen was never projected as an OLB at the next level like JRM is/was at times. JRM is really a SS prototype for this system. And that's where he needs to play.
Bell would be a true monster at the Star position in this defense. He would be allowed to play to his strengths which are his instincts and playmaking ability.
