ESPN's "key" to beating us..

But we have been dropping passes, dropped a TD in 3 games so far. If they force Dobbs to go pass happy that increases the likelyhood that we'll drop more passes. My point is you can't just say "well if we don't drop passes" when this team has shown a trend of dropping a lot of passes

Not saying all, but many of the drops come from passes off target. Maybe a few inches behind, a little to low, over thrown, ect. Not all drops are receiver's total fault. To defend Dobbs, weak line play, i.e., running for his life, rushed, hit, many things. So drops can be everyone's fault, or no one's fault but the receiver's. The latter are the ones we remember and lump all others in the same bucket in our minds eye.

His completion percentage this year is 57.9%, which is the lowest of his career. He has 6 INTs, which is tied for the most of any of his season totals. I don't have the count, but he has fumbled the ball a number of times. His adjusted quarterback rating for the year is the lowest vs any of his prior years.

On the positive side, he is a leader and makes things happen. I have been outspoken against Dobbs in the past, but his ability to keep fighting, stay calm, and just flat-out win games has been unreal this season. He will never be a great passer, but he has leadership skills and play-making skills possessed by few others.

I agree that forcing us to throw the ball often is a key to winning against us. If a defense crowds the box, consistently brings pressure, and avoids the long TD play, then they can limit our production. However, they better play until the very last second of the game. Our guys never quit and I think that surprises a lot of teams.

Don't forget the part where he's 2 touchdowns away from his touchdown total all last season and he's had 3 or 4 tds dropped. He's not perfect throwing but he has improved greatly

When throwing stats out there you need to expound to the complete stat line instead of just the perceived negatives. In looking at this you can not leave out the 13 passing TDs through 5 games vs. 15 all of last year. He's currently on pace for 30+ TDs through the air and is also second in the country in TDs and QBR when throwing with pressure. These stats would be increased as well if it weren't for the numerous drops and a receiver fumble at the goal line. The downfield passing game has been significantly more potent this year than it was last year as well. If the O-Line holds up to the pressure which as of right now I don't have any indication that they won't (remember they did hold up against what is one of the best past rushing lines in the country in Florida) and the receivers hold on the ball I would beg for A&M to step up into the box and force us to throw. Their Oh My Gosh they are so great pass defense is currently giving up 250 yds/game and gave up 300 yds to Arkys so so pass game. Bring it on!

Random thinking since folks are talking about how to beat us--- are we ever going to use our TE's for something besides blocking??

Well I'm sorry, but if Dobbs has to throw all game I don't like our chances , yes he has made some good throws ,but also has 6 ints and could have been 9 very easily. He is not as accurate as some on here make him out to be. His legs is the key to him .

3 of those INTs hit our receiver in the hands so thats not on dobbs. And a 4th INT was when his arm got hit against Florida as he let it go. So now to blame dobbs for bad passes your down to 2. He has thrown 13 TDs.

Trevor knight has thrown 7 TDs and 3 INTs.

ugh ,1 int wasn't on Dobbs, the other late , behind, under & overthrow are on him. He is a senior QB,not a freshman and the SEC has freshman QB's throwing the ball way more accurate and way better. He is our QB and I pull for him , but I'm not blind and can see his strength sure isn't passing!
