Anybody else see this? The key to beating us is to make Dobbs throw? Have they been watching the past few games? Have they seen what he is doing with defenses right now? They don't seem to realize, take away the dropped passes and all of a sudden his stats rise tremendously... Just saying. Josh Dobbs is the leader of this football team and is the calmest kid on that field.

The key to beating tn is corner blitzes. They haven't picked one up in two years.

But we have been dropping passes, dropped a TD in 3 games so far. If they force Dobbs to go pass happy that increases the likelyhood that we'll drop more passes. My point is you can't just say "well if we don't drop passes" when this team has shown a trend of dropping a lot of passes

I've also thought "forcing us to throw" is ridiculous , eliminate a few execution mistakes and our passing game is fire

The key to beating us is not to get a lead. Butch is content with a tie or super close game. No dobbs runs or down the field passes unless we're losing. But as soon as the ipponygets a lead we let our offense go. The thing is we could do that all game long and blow people out.

The key to beating us is dropping 30+ on us in the first half since we don't show until the second. No way we make that deficit up.

Watching games on ESPN: good
Watching anything else on ESPN: worthless

I read an article recently about a pub owner in England who became an NFL fan watching football when it was super obscure in the UK. Basically it was the only live sport on at 3am when he was closing up shop.

As the sport has grown in Europe, they now get more mainstream coverage from the same sources we have, and the pub owner complained that the analysts never do any research and just make general assessments based on nothing more than gut feelings.

You know what, I agree. Our football pundits have become garbage over the years.

If you never get a lead, how can you win?

We scored 35 in the 2nd half against UF's nation-leading defense...

ESPN has no idea what they are talking about and haven't for several years and I have no idea why you guys put any stock in them at all. They are lost.

Well I'm sorry, but if Dobbs has to throw all game I don't like our chances , yes he has made some good throws ,but also has 6 ints and could have been 9 very easily. He is not as accurate as some on here make him out to be. His legs is the key to him .

He's accurate 70% of the time which is enough. If you put him on the field and say... "ok now run for your life", he will get destroyed, and we will get destroyed. You have to manage his runs. It's best he uses it to escape bad situations and designed short bursts. We have to have the passing game to make it all work. Forced runs by a QB, especially with Hurd out as a blocker, is suicide. They just want to see us crash and fail.

Everyone knows the key to beating UT is to get down by 14 early against the Vols. Why do all of these teams this year persist in doing the exact opposite?

He's accurate 70% of the time which is enough..

His completion percentage this year is 57.9%, which is the lowest of his career. He has 6 INTs, which is tied for the most of any of his season totals. I don't have the count, but he has fumbled the ball a number of times. His adjusted quarterback rating for the year is the lowest vs any of his prior years.

On the positive side, he is a leader and makes things happen. I have been outspoken against Dobbs in the past, but his ability to keep fighting, stay calm, and just flat-out win games has been unreal this season. He will never be a great passer, but he has leadership skills and play-making skills possessed by few others.

I agree that forcing us to throw the ball often is a key to winning against us. If a defense crowds the box, consistently brings pressure, and avoids the long TD play, then they can limit our production. However, they better play until the very last second of the game. Our guys never quit and I think that surprises a lot of teams.

That was the book on Tennessee before the 2nd half of the Florida game. I suspect teams will continue that until passing game is proven consistent.

Basically that is the gameplay for 80% of the teams. Rarely is the plan "let them run it, we gotta stop the passing game first". Only when you got a top notch prostyle qb with good WRs is that the plan. Ole miss probably the only SEC team this yr does that apply to.
