I watched on TV and still to this day remember my thoughts at half time. I was thinking what we needed to do for a second half comeback and was thinking how many passing yards Kelly would need just to give us a chance and how fast we needed to score etc etc etc..... Then finally I remember thinking "I must be nuts. We have absolutely zero chance of winning this game." But when the game was over it's one of those moments where you think maybe you didnt just see what you think you saw. Kind of like the Georgia game and giving up the long TD pass to Georgia then a few seconds later JJ making an incredible catch to win it. I actually said to my dog..."I THINK we just won this game"..:D:D:D

My wife and I attended the game as guests of big donor ND fans. Their family has two buildings at ND named after them. Sat on 40 yard line in middle of big money Irish section. It looked like our Vols would b romped early, after the fg block and TD return all went well. The surrounding Irish fans went from feeling sorry for us to losing it. Great comeback will never forget; and won $50 from my host as we had an even money bet on game though we were underdogs. How sweet it was.

At the time was biggest comeback against Notre Dame at their stadium in history! May still be?

The best college sports comebacks we ever saw: Notre Dame's meltdown, George Mason's shocker
My brother played for BC when they beat ND when they were No 1 in '93. Was there that day and much as I hate ND, I still know why my mother rushing the field in her fur coat after the game and grabbing some turf.

Notre Dame's power offense disappeared the second half of that game and did not reappear until the second half Sugar Bowl win against Florida.
