I am actually amazed at the number of Vol Nation supporters who pay $4.99 for ESPN+. Stop complaining and drop the service.

They hardly have any analysts in their budget, and pretty much rely on Luginbill. He can’t review everyone
Bingo. It just isn't much of a profit center for them. Don't even necessarily blame Luginbill and staff, because they are being asked to perform a monumental task each year with a fraction of what is probably needed.

ESPN ranks northern and western talent much higher. 80% of the Top 5 and 70% of the Top 10 players are from non SEC states. That doesnt jibe with reality...
ehhh to a certain extent it does. Most talent period comes from California by a large margin followed by Texas, Florida and Gaorgia..from there its a huge drop off simply because of population. texas and Cali alone put out as much D1 talent (in all sports) as almost the rest of the country combined.

ESPN's big issue is as was explained by another poster they don't really reevaluate after kids Jr years. That being said there is always gonna be some sort of bias by any service whether it's intentional or not. This is why composites are important. Just as you say ESPN overrates some northern and Western Talent so do the others sometimes overrate talent from SEC country. Scouting is not an exact science and by the sheer nature of things every scout is gonna have some bias about certain players be it because of where they are from, playstyle etc.

Here's the top 250 recruits for each service plotted on a map. The fill color for each state shows the total number of rankings per with blue being least and red being most. The pie charts show the number of rankings by service in that state. Overall it looks pretty even to me.
