Trending down: While the Volunteers have the No. 5-ranked class nationally and No. 4 in the conference, they already have 33 commitments and little room remaining in the 2014 class. That coupled with other programs picking up verbals and changes in the final ESPN 300, the Vols ranking could be slipping. While Tennessee is almost assured of finishing with a top-10 class nationally, the Vols will have a tough time remaining in the top five.

And again, prolly 15 of our players don't even count towards the ranking. Don't know how you rank a class without considering what amounts to almost another full class with the other 15 players.

im pretty sure ESPN doesnt use the 20 highest rated commits like Rivals. they have their own formula that they refuse to let people know how it works

Either way, it obviously doesn't take into account the number of players, which seems ridiculous. That's 2 deep in one class in some positions. And we lack talented depth.

Why are people ok with this? Quantity matters too, you know. Class rankings should not have a cut-off point.

How is Florida flipping all these guys lately?

like who, Holley? he was committed to PennState before Franklin took over. UF was his number 2 when he committed. not sure who else theyve flipped, but i know there has been multiple kids flipping from them to another team

Don't give a crap if their "ratings" drop our class out of the top 10. Wouldn't be surprised if the top half of our 14' class flipped they'd instantly gain a star each. Let's see half way through the upcoming season how they perform.

I really don't care where the class ends up ranked. I only care how it translates to on field success. This class will go a long way toward returning us to the top tier of the SEC.

Somebody should tell ESPN we just picked up another commitment and don't give a sh!t how they think we're trending.

They don't have anyone listed as a 5* and I'm not even sure Hurd, Malone, TK, or Bates are in the top 5 at their position. Silliness.

Another in-stater just flipped from candy to the Vols. I think their class has crashed & burned. Ahhhhhhh

Because we can't have 34 people on the field at the same time. However, I think the depth we add with this class help us more than a number 1 ranked class.

In terms of meeting needs and depth with quality players, our class is #1 and it isn't even close.
