SEC preseason position rankings: offensive line - SEC Blog - ESPN

Tennessee: Losing Marcus Jackson with an injury was not the way to start preseason camp. Not when you allowed an SEC-worst 43 sacks a season ago. But coaches are optimistic about the line’s ability to retool thanks to its success recruiting. Freshmen Jack Jones, Charles Moseley and Drew Richmond could all make the starting lineup.

ahhh the ol sacks allowed stat when you dont even mention Dobbs being inserted into the lineup. It was like playing with two completely diff teams.

I bet all these ppl had never heard of marcus jackson at all until we lost him.

who wrote this? And where did they get that about big charles ?

and the good news is we play against four teams from #9 to #14.

i usually agree but jashon was our best OL last yr. He had only played OL for about 3 weeks when he first started in the opener.

heard JC Shurburtt earlier on the radio and he said if theres any kid that can start or play day 1 its jack jones. guess were about to find out lol.

The reality is, all the offensive firepower in the world is negated by a weak O line. Having a mobile QB helps, but the big nasties have to be leaps and bounds better than last year if we want to fulfill 2015 expectations

What do you do when you discover that you are the Achilles' heel of your unit? That you are the most likely to be responsible should it fail?

That's an oppressively heavy realization to come to.

I think you get pissed off. I think it causes your focus and determination not to be the weak link to rachet up to about a 12 on the 1-10 scale. I think you get to the point where very little else in life has your attention but proving it wrong.

That's what I think the 17 guys on the Vols OLine are feeling right now. Especially the twelve who were here last year, who contributed to the bad reputation. And of those twelve, most especially key contributors of 2014: Crowder, and Kerbyson, and Kendrick, and Robertson, and Thomas.

I think if those five gentlemen don't have a bee under their bonnet right now, they don't have a pulse. And since they're all five living and breathing, it's pretty safe to say they've got something to prove.

Nothing motivates a young adult male more than a need to prove himself.

The physical and mental talent is in their bodies. Here's hoping determination and grit unlocks it for the world to see in 2015.

We need them to step up so that their team can be champions.

I think if those five gentlemen don't have a bee under their bonnet right now, they don't have a pulse.

If I remember correctly, there was several games last year when fans wanted a pulse or 2 confirmed.
My favorite was something like "Even my grandmother could fall down in front of someone and make them pause for 1 second!" Ahhh, so much funnier if it weren't at the teams expense.

This is a fair ranking. The hope is that they will improve some and that all our offensive weapons will help make up for that deficiency to get us to 8 or 9 wins. A competent OL and I think we're conference contenders, and with a good OL we'd be playoff contenders.

2015-Year of redemption. ESPN gives you the low bar. Take a BIG step over that frigging thing.
