Nice little blip in the Insider article from Travis Haney. It's a pretty long look at the recruiting class for this year, and here is small excerpt about Jones gearing up for the next go around:

"I think this class will serve as a great foundation, springboarding us into next year," Jones said.

In a manner of speaking, it is next year. When I walked into the brand-new, futuristic-looking football offices Wednesday afternoon, I was greeted by a couple of assistant coaches scurrying around.

"Already working on '14," one, almost out of breath, said as he passed me.

During my time inside Jones' office, on three different occasions I told him it was fine for him to take calls from recruits or their high school coaches. (Graceful of me to let the man do his job, right?)

"I've probably talked to 80 kids today," he said, and I don't think he was joking. He also estimated he had consumed 16 cups of coffee by 2:30 p.m. I don't know that he was kidding about that, either.

Everyone quickly moves on to the juniors, but Jones said UT was probably going at it with more vigor, because it started so far behind for '13.

"I think there's a sense of urgency," he said. "We need to attack the recruiting process for 2014 like we did this past year. I think we'll like our work at the end of the day.

"Who wouldn't want to come to Tennessee? That's the way we look at it now."

Don't get me wrong, I appreciate the effort this staff is putting into recruiting. However, I'm gonna withhold drinking the koolaid and "loving this staff more and more each day" until I see more then 5 W's in a season!

If Jones and his staff work as hard at coaching as they do at recruiting, then they should definitely improve every year.

I tired of losing just like all Tennessee fans and love our football team. I c many of you are already unhappy with CBJ and co. and are calling for his head. But just listening to him and seeing how he goes about his business of TN football, I LOVE COACH JONES! Volnation needs to get behind this guy and let's rise to the top!

Here is what is refreshing...

Not badmouthing Fulmer, but I believe he got a little too comfortable, and that led to a little complacency in both coaching and recruiting. The result was Kiffin, who obviously never had plans of hanging around very long. Then you have Dooley, who by all accounts did a horrible job recruiting this past year. I do not believe any of the above worked as hard at recruiting as what has been displayed by CBJ.

If he works like this in the coaching aspect, and demands it from all of his coaches this could be really good. I am not saying that CBJ will absolutely bring us out of the wilderness so to speak, but it does look like this man has the tools, mindset, work-ethic, and heart to succeed.

This could be the beginning of UT's return to glory.

The staff fielded several calls on NSD from 2014 recruits.

Kitt, TK, Paulk, Wharton, etc

The worse part about it is our strength of schedule is in the top 5 in the nation this year, so no easy task lie ahead. Wish we had a little softer schedule for CBJ in his first year

A tough schedule is probably actually a good thing for CBJ, more chances to pull that one big upset on a national stage that would really spark recruiting.

I agree however with one upset we are 8-4, if we win the ones we are supposed to we are 7-5. (and looking over the past few years it hasn't always gone as planned as far as "wining the ones your supposed to").

Just hope VN keeps expectations realistic.

The team will have to fight out of this hole. There is no other way.

Kitt called our staff on NSD? How interested is he in UT? I feel like he's going to end up at Clemson or UGA.

Up until 98 there never has anybody who worked any harder in football than Coach Fulmur. He was the whiz behind our improving while Coach Majors was here. I think he did let up probably not in his mind but I sensed that he no longer had that little edge that makes the difference between good and elite. The hardest worker at recruting I have ever seen was Kevin O'Neill.
