So I was perusing the daily SEC blog today and noticed that some of the ESPN writers sure are having a hard time deciding whether we are the favorite to win the East or if we are just over-hyped. Specifically, that clown Edward Aschoff, who has us at #4 in the SEC overall, one ahead of Florida, but debated that he isn't picking us to win the East??

Furthermore, in the overall power rankings, we are ranked #9 in the nation. So how can some of the same guys that won't pick us to win the East are the same guys that have us at #9 in the country with Florida not even in the overall national ranking but Georgia is?

I swear these guys don't even pay attention to themselves and just write articles for click-bait.

We all understand that ESPN is an aggregate of hundreds (maybe even thousands) of sportswriters and all of them have their own opinions, right?

So it isn't unusual for articles to be conflicting based off the author

They will hate us even more after we destroy some teams because they hate us.

This is the kind of sensible, well thought and reasoned post which is limited to the off-season. Glad you got it in just under the wire.

Very soon there shall be game day threads and the meltdowns which occur will be nuclear.

Well, Tennessee has managed to find a way to screw the pooch especially with florida the last 7-8 years so until we show up and actually win on the field, can you really blame them?

Clickbait - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clickbait

Clickbait is a pejorative term describing web content that is aimed at generating online advertising revenue, especially at the expense of quality or accuracy, relying on sensationalist headlines or eye-catching thumbnail pictures to attract click-throughs and to encourage forwarding of the material over online social ...

Ah, how fondly I remember my days at UT when I was known as a click-magnet.

I just don't think you understand what you are reading

In the power ranking article, Aschoff is not ranking us at #4.

He was just the staff writer asked to write a little blurb about us on the power rankings.

The power rankings are the averages of all the sports writers ranks. He could us had us well behind #4.

Further, he has us projected to finish 10-2 in one article and not playing in Atalanta in another. That isn't odd. Going 10-2 is no guarantee of playing in Atlanta.

I'm surprised they realize there is another team in the SEC besides their precious red turd

No they are the Borg.

The mind hive.

Cthulhu with a tv channel.

Clearly you took off your tin foil hat and now they have pulled a brain drain on you.

Aschoff is shown as a voter in the overall power rankings, and most undoubtedly is a voter in the SEC power rankings. It's just confusing to me how we can be ranked so high in the rankings over these other teams but yet they don't believe we win the East and have those other teams ranked below us, when they are the ones that are casting the votes. It seems like an oxymoron.

Was really hoping for a "priests of the Temple of Syrinx" reference here. Leaving the thread sadly disappointed (but proud of Hulkhands for getting it all right).

I mean it's possible I guess, but I just don't see it. Not with that offense. (Cue obligatory ESPN hates us)

I won't fund these hack jobs by linking the article, but it's called "Roundtable: debating the SEC preseason power rankings" if you really want to read it.

Outside looking in I may pick them too just because our record against them. The winner of the FL UT game will win the east

I'm cool w it. We have plenty of hype to enter the season as it is. Some bulletin board material is necessary...I kinda like the "overhyped perennially" ignorance that's been going around. You think our team doesn't see this stuff and is ready to show the nation what they're made of. Just over two weeks bf the 2016 season...I have faith we'll prove our doubters wrong.
